Good for the Soul
These are short stories written by someone who loves and celebrates living in the south. He writes about good people, good food, and I’m here for it. I’m headed to read the rest of his books.

Stories That Sit on Your Heart a While
Sean Deitrich has a style that makes you want to sit and have coffee with him. Heartwarming, smooth-like-cream-of-wheat few-page essays of faith, furry friends, good people, tough times, family, and life. He reminds us what's important in life, and often about a simpler time. Pleasant reads if you just have a few minutes and want something to ponder. His stories will sit on your heart a while. Thanks Sean.

Would Like to Give This Book at Least 10 Stars
Some of the best things about this book are: It's written more like a conversation than a bunch of fancy words and phrases; even though many 'life lessons' are tucked away throughout, there's no sense of overt 'preaching'; the author shows a great deal of compassion, caring and common sense. My father was born in 1907 in Louisiana. The family was large and financially challenged (poor). Despite the hardships (and also because of them), his family exemplified traits and values that will carry forward for many generations -- love, honesty, a strong work ethic, generosity, gratitude, love of God, faithfulness and ingenuity, among others. 'Whistling Dixie' includes stories about all of these; for me, it's like reading about my Southern relatives, both past and present. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

Whistling Dixie
What's not to love about anything Sean Dietrich writes? If you are blessed to live in the South you will be able to relate to all of these vignettes. If you are not so blessed, you will wish you were. Sean captures the South and the Southern people perfectly. Reading this book was uplifting and gives you hope because you know there are so many more good people in this world than there are evil people. Ya'll come set on the porch a spell, share a glass of iced tea and conversation and then kick back and read Whistling Dixie. Once you are home in the South you will never want to leave.

The salt of the earth
We need more of people who love than people who preach. We need more who do God’s will than people who just pretend. Sean’s books have a way of bringing out the real person we could be.
