Love it! Going for a second one!
UPDATE JULY 2016:Still loving the lock. Had to replace the batteries about a month ago because the lock was sluggish and fixed the problem! Still with about 95% success on first try and never having to try more than second. Took key fob off keys because phone was so accurate. Still carry the hard key but find that I have only had to use once, and that was only because I left my phone in my car when I ran back in to grab something. Kevo Plus works great. The receiver stays upstairs in my office where my router and modem are, but the office is right above the front door. Have easily been able to lock and unlock the door remotely. Nice knowing, also, i can check the lock from bed or remotely to ensure I did, indeed, lock it. My parents have come to visit and have used both the guest keys as well as the extra fobs. I also have the Ring doorbell, so I can see who is at my front door and let them in remotely if needed!Still would give it 5 stars. Oh, and I did finally order a second one, waiting for it to arrive!ORIGINAL REVIEWI bought this despite some negative reviews. Most negative reviews seemed annoyed that it only comes with 2 eKeys; that's all I needed, and since most locks only come with 2 keys and this one comes with 2 eKeys, 2 REAL keys, and one fob, I figured I was covered. I can still give out temporary guest keys allowing for short-term access, free of charge. I haven't tried that yet, but that seems sufficient for me. I did buy an extra fob and gave that to some construction workers and they haven't had any issues.Installation was very easy. Installed it in very little time and it was up and running. I even uninstalled it and installed it on a new house and had no problem with the removal and replacement. Rekeying was easy! I just used my other door key for the knob and in seconds I am down to the same key for all my doorsDoesn't work 100% on the first try, but usually it is at least 90% on first try. Never had to try more than twice. I believe the fob works better than the phone, but I usually have both on me, so hard to tell. I just know that with phone I feel a vibration when the phone unlocks it and with fob I don't feel the phone vibrate (I'd say about 3/4 of the time my phone opens the door--might just have to do with keys being deeper in a bag than my phone). I still like that I never need to take my keys out of my bag. My car runs on the same technology so I just keep my keys in my bag at all times!!!I can even check to make sure that my door is locked when I am in bed (at least at the old house; newer house is bigger, haven't tried that feature from upstairs in the new house). I just upgraded to Kevo Plus (haven't received yet) so I look forward to seeing functionality with that!! It also works with my Nest thermostat; sends a signal to thermostat to alert that I am no longer away when I unlock the door.My sister has my other eKey and has used it without problem. And the construction guys have been using the fob, again without problem.I really like it. I am likely going to purchase another one for the back doors as well.I bought it around Black Friday, so cost was quite a bit better. But I will probably gladly pay for a second one soon.

Unreliable and poorly designed.
I have been an electronics and software engineer for over 15 years so I do not have a problem understanding and using technology. When I researched the features of the KEVO lock I was excited to get it installed and functional. I will break down my experience with the product step by step.Installation:Pros:The process is pretty straight forward and very similar to a standard dead bolt. Install the latch, the dead bolt, feed the wires through the door, and screw down the plate on the back of the door. Finally, Connect the wires and screw down the locking mechanism to the plate. This is all outlined pretty clearly in the installation manual. The last part is to insert the battery pack into the locking mechanism and program the lock, again outlined well in the manual.Cons:The instructions in the manual have you route the wires a specific way as you mount the locking mechanism to the plate on the inside of the door. The problem is the wires are too short to really route well and this process is difficult. The build quality of the product is poor and feels cheap; the battery pack on one of the units (I tried two of these before giving up - more on that later) was molded poorly where I could not even insert one of the batteries.Programming / Setup:Pros:Programming of the lock again was outlined in the manual and pretty simple. While holding the program button down, insert the battery pack. The lock will beep twice. Release and push the program button again and the lock will cycle from open / locked to learn the position of the lock.Download the KEVO app on your smartphone. For reference I am using a Nexus 6P Android phone. Using the app, add your lock (instructions are on screen in the app on your phone). Basically you push the program button and tap your phone to the back of the lock to kick off the installation process. All of this is outlined in either the installation guide or the app and easy to follow.Cons:Doesn't work well (or at all in my case). I have done my due diligence and spent time on the phone with support only for them to determine that the first lock would not communicate with my phone. The first lock installed fine but I was never able to get the touch to open to work with my phone. With both Bluetooth running and the KEVO app up and running, I would touch the lock and the blue light would spin for a few seconds but the lock would physically do nothing. Support had me delete the lock and attempt to re-add the lock to my phone. From that point forward I was unable to get the lock to communicate with the phone at all - could not even re-add the lock. Restarted the phone, verified Bluetooth settings; no luck. Reset the lock per support's instructions; no luck. Support suggested I return the defective lock. I ordered a replacement from amazon and set up the return. The following weekend I installed the second lock. Using the same procedure (I'm good at this now) the lock was installed and the App reinstalled in my phone + connected to the lock. I touched the bolt outside the door and it worked, the door unlocked and the unit flashed green. touched it again and the door locked and the unit showed the yellowish color showing it locked.Fast forward three days and I am right back where I started - the lock would no longer communicate with the phone at all. Touch the lock and the blue light would spin and do nothing. Any attempts to reprogram were also unsuccessful, The Bluetooth portion of the lock was dead again. I could not even re-add the lock in my phone because it could not communicate at all with the lock. Went through the same process again that support had me do by holding the reset button and attempting to reprogram; no luck. Took the second lock back off the door and re boxed for another return to Amazon and a refund. I had also ordered the KEVO PLUS unit but never installed it since I could not get any consistency out of the lock. Also set up a return for the PLUS unit as well. Conclusion:Great idea, well documented, easy to install, friendly support personnel, terrible product. This thing is junk and I wouldn't take one for free at this point. Don't waste the time or frustration on this lock, look elsewhere.

Works when installed correctly but phone function does not work quite the way its made people to believe.
I've seen some people's frustration over how the lock responds to phones and I am using an iPhone 6. The phone has to be at least activated for the key-less function to operate but otherwise I haven't had the issues others have experienced. Not really sure what Kwikset is getting at when they say your phone can be in your pocket and it will still get recognized since the phone can not be "off" for it to work. So its kind of like pulling out your keys but your getting your phone instead to unlock the door. Also for the customer that has Android phones, just because you see it works for iPhone does not mean it will work for a Moto X!..... If you have an Android based phone take the time to research before jumping headlong into this. You're just wasting your time and money if you don't.I have also found that this lock is finicky if your door doesn't close just right. It will click multiple times as it attempts to lock until it gives up. After some work I got it to operate properly but not until the door now doesn't seal as it did before I started. :/ Mind you you had to really push on the door to get it to lock, meh.During the installation I took the time to be sure that neither wire were kinked or in a position that would cause them to be damaged so there was no issue there at least! In the end I do understand the logic behind having to pay for an extra ekey. You pay stores to make new keys all the time soooooooo there's no difference when it comes to virtual keys. Yeah sure there's way less effort to make a new ekey BUT these things have value regardless if they're real or not.

Sometimes there is a annoying delay when you are trying to unlock it
Sometimes there is a annoying delay when you are trying to unlock it. About one in three times it is faster to fumble for the key and open it. I had to add to my review. This item will randomly open by itself. I witnessed this happen while my family and I were sitting in the room with no phones near us. I immediately tried to call customer support to seek advice. I sent two emails through the app that were never answered and placed my third phone call and remained on hold until I couldn't wait any longer. At least twenty minutes each time. With a work trip pending, I could wait no longer and just removed and replaced the lock. I still haven't received anything from Weiser about this matter. If you value the security of your home or the safety of your family, don't buy this product. I'm not alone. There are several other reports on line of this behavior with this product.

I would not recommend this product
Very long connecting time. Longer to stand by the door waiting the thing to connect than getting your key out of your pocket.I would not recommend this product.
