Well, the new hat arrived late this evening. It is far beyond my expectations and honestly, I can't imagine the $200+ version can be better.This hat has a nice silk liner with a nice crown insignia label that's moisture/sweat proof that will protect the crown from sweat. It also has a very nice leather sweat band to protect the sides and front.It even looked far better than what I had expected, It's the Balloq look in XXL which is extremely hard to find!It's a rigid wool hat, definitely NOT a "crush" hat! That's not a bad thing though as I never "crushed" my hat like the cheaper ones do.. This hat has a little weight to it, once again, not a bad thing. It will keep it on your head in windy situations, as will the leather hatband.This is a premium hat at a decent price.

There seems to be alot of discussion over two points concerning this hat, Size and stiffness (comfort). I'll talk about both along with my general feelings about the hat itself,Size: I used one of the cloth tape measures mywife uses for sewing and measured the circumference of my head. Based on that measurement, I found the suggested hat size in their sizing chart and ordered the hat. For me it fit perfectly so I have no complaints there.Comfort (stiffness): Some people have reported that the hat is very stiff. One reviewer compared it to a state trooper's hat. The hat was indeed a bit stiff when I received it but I gently pushed in the sides of the hat several times throughout the first night and the hat softened up. After awhile it was actually very comfortable to wear and still is. Again: take it slowly and do this gently. It does not take alot to make it fit better and be more comfortable.General thoughts about the hat: For the price I think that this is a well made hat, I bought it to be part of an Indian Jones costume so I really did not want to spend alot of money but in truth I think it is a great product at a great price.Hope this helps.

I previously ordered an Indiana Jones branded hat from another source, and it had the three inch brim. It looked more like a cowboy hat than an Indiana Jones hat. I then ordered the Dorfman brand hat on Amazon with the 2 1/2 inch brim, and it looks super! What a difference taking 1/2 inch off the brim makes! It looks exactly like the ones in the movies.Buyer should know that this hat is NOT soft and flexible! In fact it is quite hard, and can be creased and made to look awful if sat upon or otherwise crushed. If you are responsible enough to take care of a fine, quality hat, this is the one you want, because it looks SHARP, even dressy. I get compliments all the time, and hear even more from people who don't necessarily mean for me to hear their comments.If you just love the Indy look like I do, but don't want a cheap-looking floppy hat, This is the one you want. You won't be sorry.Huge heads run in my family, and hats that fit me are extremely hard to find. I usually have to wet and stretch hats to make them fit comfortably. I'm new to the world of hats so let me share what little I know. I have two Indiana style hats. One is the soft crushable which is much more comfortable but looks more casual as well. This one is hard. Someone said it has a plastic form, I'm not sure what it's made of but it seems harder than my head. Sizing is crucial. Most size charts are the same but the one at [...] is what I used. I'm right between large and medium so I ordered the medium and it's a bit snug. I don't think it will stretch, but it may.If you want comfort get the Scala Felt hat which is similar but more casual and a bit cowboy-ish. If you want style get this one.UpdateFirst, the hat does indeed stretch a little. It's still stiff but seems to be in the process of molding itself to my head. This will take several hours of wearing howeverSecond, Amazon filtered out the sizing link. Do a search for hat sizing and you should find some charts that compare head diameter, classic size, and standard sizing. Order your size according to it unless you are near the fringe and in that case go up a size as these are snug, but meant to be so.

This is a really nice hat and I know hats because I’ve got several cowboy hats. The quality of this hat was surprising to me, and the fit is excellent.

Hat arrived today. Very happy with style and quality. I'm a 7 1/4 and the large is slightly tight but not enough to send it back. I figure it'll stretch enough.Overall very satisfied.
