A Feel-Good Romcom
In Lilac Mills’s The Tanglewood Tea Shop, the first installment in the Tanglewood Village contemporary romance series, this romcom is so good and will have you laughing in stitches. Patisserie chef Stevie is down on her luck. She lost her apartment, her job, and her boyfriend. Her mother and sister treated her like garbage. But when her Aunt Peggy passed away, she ended up with a huge windfall that changed her life—an inheritance in her will. By chance, she went to Tanglewood to open her own tea shop and ran into Nick Saunders, a champion show jumper. For Nick, he couldn’t believe his luck would change. He’s feeling a bit guilty for his sister Tia, who’s handicapped due to an horse-riding accident, because it was his fault. He wasn’t looking for love and felt sorry for himself. Due to some hilarious run-ins with each other in Tanglewood, the village came together due to a flood when everyone came together to join forces on that rainy night. Stevie’s business is picking up customers as everyone gets along better in Tanglewood than in London. She also made new friends and befriended a cat she named Peggy. But when her friend Leanne’s brother Saul is smitten with her, it complicated things between Nick and Stevie further. At the ball, they decided to follow their heart and made a go of it to be together. This delightful romcom is well-written and so funny, you’ll still be laughing after you finished reading. It gave me the feels and hit all the right spots. I cared for Stevie who didn’t deserve to be treated poorly by her mother and sister. This has a Cinderella-like feel to it. I also cared for Nick, who wanted the best for his sister Tia, even if he had to let go of the past to move on. He cared for her tremendously. The location of Tanglewood Village was picturesque and homey to take you there from the tea shop and Nick’s horse ranch. The theme of the story is finding your happy place to follow your heart. This wonderful romcom is a must-read on your book list. I had no issues with this book. I rated this book, five out of five stars since it was fantastic. If you love romantic comedies that tickle your funny bone and warms your heart with non-stop romantic drama, plenty of romance, and lots of funny moments, you’ve love The Tanglewood Tea Shop. It’s recommended for fans who love Hallmark movies, classic romcom movies and novels, and Heidi Stephen’s Never Gonna Happen.

An enchanting, clean romance.

What are you waiting for? Go ahead and read this book!

perfect start to getting to know the town of Tanglewood
This was a refreshing read. Just what I needed at the end of each day. The characters were carefully developed. I could picture The beauty of the town and the love between the characters. Allegra did make me want to shove a cupcake in her mouth! What an enjoyable read.

Sweet as semi-chocolate
Overall, it's not a bad read if incredibly predictable and missing severe charater development. How it's possible to have characters fall in love when they barely have spoken 20 words to each other throughout the entirety of the book is beyond me. I definitely wouldn't consider it a romantic comedy but rather a sweet story about finding and making a home somewhere brand new. The friendships were far more interesting and carried more development and depth than any of of the subpar romance arcs. Even the takedown of the "enemy" was mediocre at best. There are also several gaping plot holes but all in all if you're looking for an airport or beach book to occupy your time then this book will suit. I likely won't waste my time on the remainder of the series but once you strip away any expectations of a cohesive plot, the story in and of itself is decent.

Tea shop
It's a cute story. It was a fast and easy breezy read. Love the characters. Messy main girl in the middle of a small town. Add one handsome brooding guy, a cat and a smart old Lady and there you go. Oh and don't let me forget a mean girl and her minions. 3.5

Lovely, funny story with great characters!
I was looking for something light and humorous to read during lockdown. I've had terrible trouble concentrating on reading lately, so I've started and given up on a few novels over the last few months. I loved the pretty cover on this book, and since I'd always wanted to try one of Lilac's stories I thought I'd give it a go. I'm so glad I did.Right from the start, I really warmed to the lead character, Stevie. She's such a lovely, kind-hearted young woman, but thankfully, she's not perfect. She's a bit clumsy, a bit awkward, and let's not mention her antics after her drinking session with Tanglewood florist, Leanne ... oops, I just did! But it was a really funny scene in the book, and only added to my fondness for Stevie.Of course, being a horse lover, I was always bound to like Nick, and I'll be honest and say that I was on his side at their first encounter! However, he was difficult to understand at first, though as the story progressed I quickly realised why he was so grumpy and my compassion for him grew in leaps and bounds. From almost the beginning, I wanted Stevie to break through with him and give him a chance, and I wanted Nick to put aside his noble intentions and just go for it! Of course, it didn't work out that way or there'd be no story. Things have to happen first, and I was pleased with the flow of this novel, which kept me interested throughout. With Stevie's new business venture comes the chance to meet several new and interesting characters, not least Peggy, the little black cat. But not everyone in Tanglewood is pleased that she's opened a tea shop. She's clearly made an enemy - an enemy with influence it seems. Before too long, it looks as if the tea shop will be out of business, and Stevie will be heading home to the city and her smug and annoying mother and sister. Has Stevie done enough to win the other villagers over? And will she find the help she needs just when she needs it most?I really loved this book and I'm so pleased I found it. Be warned, though, it will make you exceptionally hungry. The descriptions of the cakes and pastries are mouthwatering, and all I could think about was cake at times! But if you have supplies to hand to ensure your concentration doesn't lapse, settle down with this novel and lose yourself in the village of Tanglewood, its colourful and warm characters, and its utterly charming tea shop. You won't regret it - though your waistline might.

The Tanglewood Tea Shop
The Tanglewood Tea Shop by Lilac MillsPatisserie-Chef Stevie is stuck in a rut. Her beloved Great Aunt Peggy has passed away, she’s been fired from her job and the love of her life has walked out the door. But when she’s called to the solicitor’s office to hear the reading of Peggy’s will, Stevie’s life begins to change.Left with a large amount of money, Stevie is determined to take Peggy’s advice and turn her life around. The quirky tea shop that she sees up for sale in the beautiful village of Tanglewood must be a sign, and Stevie can’t wait to make it her new home.Later books in the series have appealed to me recently, so when I saw that the first book was free on Kindle I thought I would start at the beginning. A small town community, with a little bit of drama leads to a nice comforting read. I thought that this was a nice and easy book to read - it definitely distracted me from the jobs I was supposed to be doing.Rating 4/5
