Outstanding value and performance. I learned how to use it in the field and was proficient in a few hours hitting targets and identifying what was ferrous or non ferrous.Actually purchased this for an evidence search as part of a criminal investigation. It worked flawlessly on detecting buried ferrous objects even 4-6” deep.It takes some getting used to with the sounds and the digital display and the sensitivity. But once you figure that out, it’s amazingly versatile across different terrain.Keep the sensitivity very high when you have to be further away from the ground due to brush or debris, then reduce the sensitivity when you get a signal to confirm and narrow in on your object. Do some light digging and reassess using the most discriminatory sensitivity and you’ll find what was detected.Few tips:1) get the forearm band sold separately to alleviate fatigue if used for long periods or difficult terrain2) get better headphones to decrease background noise3) adjust the height a little bit shorter than you might think to avoid using your arm and back muscles to keep the detector off the ground.

This is my first ever detector I bought a couple of months ago. I watched a video on "the top 5 metal detectors for beginners" and this is the one I chose to buy. Glad I did! It's easy to use and pretty accurate. Once I get a signal and narrow in on where it is I dig a plate sized hole about 5 or 6 inches deep and gently flip it. Sometimes the coin pops right into view! I find all kinds of change. On my 3rd outing I found a chunky 10K gold ring! My daughter works in the jewelry business and sold it for scrap for me. I got $198 cash for one find. Easy to use but remember you'll need a decent small size shovel or at least a garden spade and you'll 100% need one of the handheld pointers to locate items once you dig a hole. I bought a $30 one and it's great too. I'm totally hooked on a fun hobby.

This is a great way to get started in metal detecting. I haven't been able to get out with it much due to weather but it didn't take long to familiarize myself with it and understand it. I can't wait for the weather to warm up soon and take it out again.Update: it works really well, I took it down to the river and it gets it pretty close to the object but it was difficult to find everything I detected, so I purchased a pinpoint detector but haven't had a chance to take it out yet. I am still very happy with this detector.

It is a good product I highly recommend it, I think it helps you a lot in free time when you go camping or to the beach

If it were summer and I was walking around the woods or other leisure searching this would be great. Bought it for the wrong reason and did not have time to get to use it for real searching. It is sensitive and found more than I needed, sensory overload. That's why I say get to use it more it did get me to find a lot of nails from a former contractor around the edge of my house. Who looks for that stuff after working all day and who throws nails around the edge of your house...this guy did. Great beginner not sure for the folks that use upper cost detectors. Never took the time to compare.

Like others have said, the description is misleading. You do NOT get headphones with this even though the picture and description say so. I thought maybe it was just a mistake so I returned one for a replacement and still had no head phones.
