Why Elders?: A Biblical and Practical Guide for Church Members

Required Reading!!
Great resource. Not quite as complete at Alexander Stauch's treatment of the subject, but at 200 fewer pages in length, this is a fantastic, easily readable resource for lay people and church members (and pastors too), without having to work through the Stauch book. I would highly recommend this to any Church leader (lay or ministerial) who is serious about organizing their Church biblically. This will become required reading for all of the elders, deacons, and group leaders at my church.

Very good book by Dr
Very good book by Dr. Merkle. While it is a condensed version of some of his other works, this book helps give the reader a Biblical understanding of the role of elders, terminology used for elders, and application today. It is worth the read!

Thorough and Biblical
Merkle does a wonderful job of presenting the argument for Elder leadership using scripture rather than just opinion or interpretation.
