Great for crafts
I love this thing!!! I purchased it for cutting through foam at work, and it does so PERFECTLY. Very effective. I feel safe putting it down with the locking mechanism, and have had no issues whatsoever. The blades are sharp and cut right through.

Easy of use - project knife
Actually bought this to cut 4" memory foam to fit in my travel trailer, as using a razor blade knife didn't leave edges clean. Worked great! Straight edge, etc.

Like slicing butter!
I am not usually one to be impressed or write reviews for products. If a product functions as expected, I think it did its job and isn’t worthy of praise. This knife; however, went above and beyond my expectations. For the price, I assumed it would get the job done, but I wasn’t expecting anything great. This knife sliced our turkey and ham like it was cutting through butter! Very smooth! Easy to use and clean! I am very impressed and loved the price!

Great gadget - and it's not just for carving meat!
Back story: I ordered and received a foam pillow to elevate my legs and feet, but by the time I actually used it, it was past time to return it. I have very short legs, and the 8" one was too high. Those pillows are expensive. I decided I could either spend a little more and get an electric knife to cut it in half, or I could chalk it up to bad decisions and "eat" the almost $40.00. I decided on this knife - mainly because I've use a lot of Black and Decker appliances and tools and have never had a problem.I hesitated to order this, because several of the reviews mentioned the safety switch was hard to keep on - two hands were needed to cut and hold it down. I have very small hands, so I knew that might be a problem. There must have been a redesign (maybe Black and Decker heard the complaints) because on my knife, you can push the switch one way to lock it on, and the other way locks it off.I cut the pillow in half - and now I have 2. The only problem is the pillow is 24" across, and the knife blades are only 7" (or maybe 9"). Anyway getting to the middle to completely cut the pillow in half was a small problem, so it's rather sculptured there. No problem, put a case on it and it's fine.I really like this knife. I had one years ago, and there wasn't a safety switch or a way to safely eject the blades. This is much better - and am going to have to get some French bread and then roast a turkey breast, so see how well it does with those. It's a great product, and I'm really glad I bought it.UPDATE - 2/1/19 I did get some French bread, and it sliced half a loaf in less time than it took to get my regular bread knife out. The slices are so even (something I never could accomplish with my regular knife) and I'm very pleased. Now I'm looking around for something else to slice! One thing - the blades are very sharp! I've used it twice and nicked myself 3 times. In the middle of the night I realized that I could leave the plastic sleeve that came to store the blades in ON the blades until I got them hooked into the knife.

Loved This Electric Knife
update on my review:This is week 3 and the knife started messing up for me. I was slicing a couple of loaves of bread with it and it stopped working so I thought it might just be overheated. I let it sit for about half an hour & when I tried again it worked for a couple of minutes, then stopped again so I thought, "ok, I didn't let it cool down enough yet." So I let it sit for about 90 minutes or so and the same situation- it worked for a minute or two and then stopped. I had to get a return label for it because I won't keep an instrument like this that works so poorly. If an electric knife can't handle a couple of loaves of bread then it's not a good knife and that is disappointing since Black & Decker's always delivered quality, in my own experiences. Hopefully, the replacement knife will work much better. I will say that Amazon was quick and prompt with handling the return & exchange so I'm happy with Amazon.I've been trying my hand at making homemade bread and of course, the biggest pain has always been slicing the bread nicely. With a manual serrated knife I can get some of the bread sliced nicely but not as thinly as I'd like and then of course, you reach the stage where the bread doesn't slice nicely anymore at all with a manual knife so I was looking for other ways to do this without buying an expensive meat slicer. I was looking into those bread slice boards that are available that give you the proper spacing of where to cut the bread but considering all they do is stand there while you slice, the prices seemed a bit steep for this frugal fellow. I looked into electric knives and decided to take a chance on this since it had a lot of great reviews and I have to say, as much as I HATE spending money on things, this was an excellent investment. Now mind you, I'm reviewing this knife after about 2 weeks of using it so I can't speak for the longevity of the knife but I can tell you that it works absolutely perfectly on slicing homemade bread. I have used it on homemade white bread, homemade french bread loaves so far and I get amazingly thin slices of bread- as good as you would get from store bought slices, only they obviously taste a whole lot better and at least you know what you're putting into your body. I really recommend this electric knife; it's easy to use, easy to clean and for the price, it can't be beat, in my opinion.
