The pole is nice for moving tall grass aside while searching for lost ...
Incredible tool! I bring it on every round regardless; I’ve used it to grab branches & shake discs down in addition to water retrieval. The pole is nice for moving tall grass aside while searching for lost discs. I use it for everything related to disc retrieval. WELL worth the $$.One quick tip; be sure and tighten the bungie before retrieving the first time; I needed to removed about 12-14” to get mine tight (but not too tight) so that there is tension on the bungie when you apply the weight of a disc. Just slide the end stopper out; untie; trim (10-14” id say); re-tie, then burn ends so they don’t unravel. You may need to re-tighten again during the course of its use.

Works great 9/10 times
Love this thing and it's saved me from losing a lot of discs. My only real gripe is that if you're going into weeds or have a disc slightly dug into the mud, as soon as you pull, the individual sections come loose and it can be incredibly hard to get them back together and wiggle the disc loose. That said, I've always managed to get my disc back for myself and others so I'll take the minor frustration and loss of time over losing discs.

Grabbers works great, may want to upgrade the handle though
WARNING, THIS DEVICE CAN BE DANGEROUS(read bottom lines)The grabbing part of this device works just as intended. It saved me some money and has paid for itself already with just a few weeks of use. The tent poles are somewhat not good though. They make it hard to control where the mouth of the jaws are going some of the time. Also at full extension they begin to sagg. The final issue is that sometimes when the jaw closes on the disc it grabs some grass, sticks with it and makes it hard to pull them out. With the tent pole style sticks when its caught like that the whole thing collapses and you're left pulling on the inner bungee cord. Good thing is that the threads are the same pitch as any standard broom or paint stick so it'll be easy to find a collapsible paint roller handle if you'd like...When this is collapsed down to its stored size, it's about as tall as my disc golf bag with the grabber being slightly taller.....Update as of November 23 2020..BE CAREFUL when pulling back with a stuck disc! Earlier this month I had a stuck disc in some weeds and started pulling with some force to it. The inner bungee cords stretched out then finally released the disc tent poles like a missle straight back into my stomach like somebody shot me with an arrow. It penetrated my skin and left a gash and a scar on my stomach..Dropped me to my knees right away...DO NOT PULL BACK WITH ALOT OF FORCE!!..I recommend changing the tent pole handle out for an extendable paint handle asap.

Worth the buy
Works great. Really one of those must have for disc golfers. They even threw in an extra spring for the clamp. I will say that when the entire pole is put together and reached out it does flex a bit which is a little bothersome but still workable. I ran into a guy that only bought the clamp and then found some collasping tent poles that he rigged to the clamp for better stability. The threads for the head of the clamp are like basic for any broom handle.

I take it with me each time I go. But be careful when you us it.
I have saved a lot of discs with this already. Some cautions are if you are using it in water to make sure the gator is screwed on tight. The other is the pole. If you are using it in a thick bushy tree the head will clamp hard on a branch or get caught. If you have to pull hard to get it unstuck the pole sections will separate and now the elastic cord is on stretch and then the pole section will come back to you like an arrow. If they could put a simple twist lock in each pole section it would eliminate this problem.

Best disc retrieval item
This thing is amazing. It’s a super long pole that has sections so you can make it work in a lot of situations. The mechanism is incredibly easy to use. I and multiple of my friends I throw with have used it and no one has any issues with it.It’s the best disc retrieval item I’ve used. Waaaay better than the golden retriever.Only downside is due to the length it’s only going to fit in certain bags.I have the Innova hero backpack and I put it in one of the side pockets and it sticks up. Been working well.To sum it up. Buy this. It’s great

Pretty so-so thus far
This is an initial review; I'll try and update this review once I've used it a few more times. I went out, and being the lousy disc golfer that I am, dumped my disc twice in a shallow but silty creek. Out comes the Gator. Both times, I could not get it to engage/bite around the disc. Maybe it was the angle, but based on videos I've seen of it, I don't think this was the issue. The Gator would get right to the disc, and then not clamp down. I would even move the disc's position with the pole, and then try to bite at it again. No luck. So both times, I ended up using the pole to float the disc/pull it back to shore, where I was able to lie down and grab it out of the creek. This is not the use for this Gator. I could use a stick for free in this case. My hope is that once I get the hang of the Gator, all will be well. However at first use, it's pretty useless other than having a long stick-like tool to try and reach a disc and work it back towards me.
