if she really gets you, she'll get this for you. if not, the marriage was doomed anyway.
four stars based on the 2"/3" unit I bought here; I'm leaving a review on this due to outside reviewers complaining about the 1"(+) grips slipping -- instead of getting the benefit of 2"/3" grips, with this one you get the necessity of clamping down on the (presumably) rubber handles. Open grip exercise vs I'd bet gruesome closed grip, just depends on what diameter things you expect to have to death grip in life. I wish they made a 0.025" handle.Anyways,... you'll want to swap out the biners for something ~$5 ea here or at a box store, and eventually you'll probably want to ditch the (presumably broken by then) cabled attachment for a simple eyebolt. After that I can't see using their lifetime replacement guarantee; the strap might rip from the screws if you use steady and high weight, which the insert fails to recommend, but everything else is the full-on rugged heavy duty you'd expect for this price.Their youtube videos show a competition @10% the user's bodyweight x5 reps; the insert also suggests 20% bodyweight for wrist rolls; forward and backward gives you four exercises on this; the 2"/3" gives you four more using the ends as faucet handles, forward and backward, ratcheting then rolling action.Using a 10' 75lb 7/8" chain with the unit above shoulder level, chain folded in half, I can get half the chain off the floor before I run out of strap and before my forearms explode; I'm 225lbs, so 35+lbs was unpleasant this first time, doing all 8 exercises on the larger grips. I'll probably add a single dangling leg in two days, and in a month I might be ready for both legs, at which point 1/2 the strap lifts 75lbs -- and I don't see growing past that for decades. So with inexpensive bulletproof biners and eventually eyebolt, you will not outgrow this.Nuts on the sides arrive with plastic covers -- a very nice thought, and it figures on nuts I probably won't scrape my eyeballs on, vs 5/8" hardware on other things that routinely rips off my ears. HD biner and eyebolt would get them 6 stars from me. Plan for a long weekend unpacking and unwrapping, so, bulletproofed shipping as well.
