BRUSHING UP ON HYGIENE....
These finger stall dog teeth cleaning brushes arrived today. I like this idea because trying to use a brush with a playful puppy can be fraught with problems. The brushes are made of silicone and consist of a series of rounded nodules ( no actual bristles) on a thimble type of sleeve to fit over the finger. They are a lovely bright green colour and there is 4 in the set. Your finger acts as a brush holder, giving good control and increased compliance.I tried mine on my puppy and he seemed to see it as a game so sat patiently trying to lick the toothpaste off as I was putting it on. Even so, it worked successfully, and because the bristle/nodules are so soft there is no rubbing or damage to the gums either.A nice touch is that the set comes in a smart, handy storage tin and the makers have even supplied stick on labels to decorate it with. The tin will be useful to hold further replacement brushes in.I think it is important to help ensure good dental health in dogs from an early age, so I am delighted to have these brushes to achieve this.

Dog Toothbrushes That Clean Well and Provide Plenty of Touch Feedback
Having had zero luck with our rescue dogs using dog toothbrushes from well known brand, this looked like it might be a way to coax them if we could use our (trusted) fingers as a means to start them off.The brushes we received in a pack of 4 which housed in a silver metallic lift lid box measuring 170 x 90 x 15mm, within which are two small plastic lockable and very useful travel capsules holding the toothbrushes, these are green in colour and the whole brush head and ‘tentacle like bristles’ are silicone. The measurements of the brush itself is 15mm long with a hole diameter of 20m, which is not huge, I have small fingers and my index finger just fit inside it very snugly. We first just used some toothpaste on fingers to get them used to the feeling of us rubbing their teeth, then introduced the brushes after a week or so. This has worked – we are now able to brush their teeth with the Aujzoo Dog Toothbrushes without much commotion from the dogs, though one is a little harder to convince, but does come around eventually. Using these brushes, it is very easy to maintain contact with the teeth and to ensure you are covering them well from the feel of the finger, given the thinness of the toothbrush – plenty of feedback in other words and that really helps. The softness of the bristles ensures that the dogs gums are not being damaged, whilst the teeth are thoroughly cleaned. This is a great idea, probably taking us a little longer as the dogs are already over 2 years and thus took some time to adjust to them, once they did it has been much easier to perform this crucial daily dental hygiene task. In terms of durability we’ve been using daily for best part of a month and there is no visible damage to the brushes. I’m not sure we’ll ever get them to switch to a toothbrush now, but in the end I don’t think it is worth causing any anxiety over, these Aujzoo Dog Toothbrushes work as well as can be expected and get a recommendation from me with one small caveat that finger size may be an issue for larger hands
