Westcott29691 All-Purpose Rosewood Handle Letter Opener, 9 in

I needed a new letter opener and this one is perfect. The blade is not sharp so it will not cut your fingers. It is easy to hold and it cuts envelopes perfectly.

After misplacing our previous letter opener I ordered this one. I seriously doubt the wood is actual rosewood but for the money it certainly does the job, seems to be a good length, durable and easy to use.

I like it a lot

Good looking letter opener. The wood handle and the blade are both very attractive. It goes well with wooden desks or in the kitchen drawer. It is a slim little blade that works rather well.However, before your first use you might want to sharpen it. The blade is not as sharp as you think (not at first). A bit of arm force is needed to slice open letters. So, I used a #300 grit knife sharpening whetstone to improve the blade. Now the opener is rather sharp and easy to use.I could not give a 5-star because despite the good quality, aesthetics, and ease of use it required some additional work to get there. Out-of-the-box, the blade is a bit dull in my opinion--although it will open letters. So, a 4-star is a fair score.So, if you buy this, you should be able to enjoy it as a regular, solid, functional letter opener. However, if you want it to perform at 5-star level, you will need some sharpening tools to improve the blade a little.Thanks!

I've had far too many flimsy letter openers and didn't want another. This one is solid without being clanky. It's comfortable to use and never feels like it's going to bend under the pressure of an envelope flap. The wood handle makes it look sharp, too. I'd recommend it.

cool basic letter opener

This is a nicely made product. The handle is comfortable to my ladies medium sized hand, blade slides nicely. I recommend this product.

This is a fine letter opener. It is not fancy or really that special but it works fine. It is sturdy and appears to be holding up just fine. The workmanship is fantastic and the finish is not great but this is a simple implement. If you just want to open letters, this is a good buy and value.

I had a problem with a late delivery - down to Royal Mail, not the seller, as it turns out who subsequently contacted me with an update (thank you for responding). This is not an expensive item and was delivered with free postage and really, unless you were out to make a statement or to give something as a gift, this is perfect for opening letters. It kind of has the look of a wooden handled steak knife, except the blade is double edged and whilst it is sharp enough to tackle any letters, it will not do you any harm. It is solidly made and looks in keeping, sitting on my wooden desk. I am very pleased with it.
