What a great introduction to a classic band.
This author really knows his stuff. I grew up around Birmingham and it mentions so many places and bands in exceptional detail. The style is never boring and always enlightening as to how who knew who and played where and with what band. A marvellous insight.

Interesting but...
Overall I enjoyed reading this but it had a couple of disappointing aspects (for me, at least).Other reviewers have mentioned that it was more about the general pop/rock scene in the 60s rather than about the band members themselves. This didn't bother me; on the contrary, I found it fascinating. The issues which I had were firstly some strange spelling and grammatical errors which should have been corrected at the editing/proofing stages and secondly some fantastically convoluted and lengthy sentences. I had to read most of these several times before I deduced the meaning - or in some cases, didn't!Despite these irritations I have given 4 stars as it is an interesting read with some wry humour.
