Fantastic barrel honest review
I’m so excited about this rain barrel. We had our old barrel freeze up on us. We considered our needs very carefully and chose this barrel to water our chickens, and wow it did not disappoint. Love the fact that I can check water level, make sure our de-icer is working simply by taking the lid off. The screen on the lid keeps debris from falling in. Easy setup. So glad we selected this one.

Nice product and aesthetically pleasing
I decided on this rain barrel for several reasons. First of all it has two brass spigots that you can connect a garden hose to them. Also, the product is made of a heavy plastic that sits on top of a stand so all the collected water is available. The barrel is well made in the USA. Another consideration was that when we are experiencing heavy quick rainfall we sometimes got water in the basement. Since the installation no water in the basement! That was a big bonus. I would not hesitate to buy this rain barrel. We’re saving a valuable resource and it feels good every time we fill up the watering can.

Buy a different faucet
The rain barrel is great. It’s attractive, sturdy, easy to install. I like that I could choose where to place the drainage for overflow drainage. The faucet that comes with it is garbage. It stopped allowing water to come out after one month of use. The mechanism inside broke and wouldn’t turn when the handle was turned. Before that it oxidized and leaked rust into the rain water we collected. It was difficult to screw on and seemed like we had a few chances to get it right before it stripped away the barrel’s thread. It always leaked no matter how it was screwed in. Bought a plastic replacement and now the rain barrel works like a charm. The only other thing to note is that the mosquito screen does tend to slide off the top from time to time.

So great we bought three!
We used these rain barrels to create a daisy-chained system that feeds our solar-powered irrigation system. I bought one and loved it so much that we purchased two more. They are in a prominent spot in my yard, so I wanted something that looked nice. FYI, these pictures are the Walnut color. These have held up well over the first growing season. I will update this review if we encounter any issues.

Customer service came through
When I first received these barrels, one was scratched--all over the front--, and the other was broken. I contacted RTS customer service. After sending them a few pictures, they made everything right, and the new replacement barrels are being shipped now.My initial review of this product was pretty bad, but it restored my faith in humanity when I was treated so well by their customer service.

Works great, looks good
We love the way the barrel looks. We had five days of rain immediately after buying this and it worked perfectly. We have it positioned flat side against the house with the gutter down spout stopping just above it. Some things I'd like to mention though; take care screwing in the brass spigot. Best to lay the barrel on its back and make sure the spigot is straight as you screw in. It took me about 4 tries getting it straight in, and it would drip. Be careful because the brass will start to strip the plastic. But once I got it perfectly straight, no leak/drip. The instructions also say hand tighten, but it leaked, so I did use a wrench to turn it one complete turn after I couldn't hand turn it, and that solved the leak, but go easy. The one negative is the spigot is really low on the bottom, no room to attach a hose as is, so set in on top of something. Either buy the stand accessory made to go with it, or we used paver bricks that matched our pavers to set it on to raise it up enough to attach a hose. Overall, would recommend.

50 gallon rain barrel
I ordered this barrel and was happy with the appearance and quality. After our first rain however I unfortunately found out that this barrel had a hole in it near the bottom so it leaked out all the water. Fortunately Amazon is top notch with exchanges for damaged items. I was shipped a new one right away and given an option to print a label and drop the old one off myself or schedule a UPS pick up. The hole appeared to be a manufacturing defect since it was right on one of the seams of the barrel. My tips for any buyers would be to inspect the barrel upon arrival. I did this with the new one by taking it outside on a very sunny day. If there are any holes or defects you'll clearly see light leaking into the barrel when you look inside. My other tip is to purchase a stand or have somewhere that it can sit on a ledge since the spigot is very low. Others have complained about the overflow being in the front of the barrel. If this is something that would bother you I would suggest putting a hole in one of the side knobs that are used to connect multiple barrels. You could connect a hose there and direct the overflow where you want. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it. I'll update this review if anything changes over time.

Great barrel!
Great rain barrel! Easy to use, light when empty. Has stood up well to Edmonton weather for the past year. We did move it inside for the majority of winter

Great rain collector
We bought three of these from a local vendor about two years ago. Loved them so much we decide to purchase them online when our local vendor no longer carried them. Great barrel. Flat back, fits nicely against the house. Spigots fit tightly, no need for caulk or plumbers tape. Easy to connect to other barrels.

Good basic barrel that meets expectations.
I had no problems assembling this - I did use plumbers tape on the spigot and have had no issues with the quality of the product so far. If I were to do it again though, I'd get a sealed barrel and proper diverter that would direct rain back to the downspout when the barrel is full. Once full, the water just pours out the overflow down the front and over the top running everywhere. In my case that happened in just one heavy downpour. It went from empty to overflowing so I had to run out in the pounding rain to redirect the downspout. Also, the screen seems to filter out leaves and debris OK, but I don't think it will keep mosquitoes out. So all in all, it does what it says it will. Just be aware that there might be better styles available for about the same money.
