This is the perfect present for my little 6 year old grand-daughter. She adores tiny things, unicorns and making crafts, so this will make a brilliant gift. It's very simple and basically you arrange the contents (pink crystals, unicorn figurines, tree and mushroom houses) on the circular wooden base and then put the plastic dome over it. There's a pot of glue supplied so that you can attach everything once you have decided on your design. The light is provided by a thin strip of wire with tiny LED bulbs which you thread up through the base of the lamp. Unfortunately there are no instructions supplied so we weren't sure exactly how to position the switch. Also it says on the description page that there are 3 different lighting modes (on, strobe and flash), hopefully there's off as well. Without instructions it's not easy to tell how you achieve these different modes. Anyway, I'm sure she will enjoy making the lamp.Edit: after giving this gift to my grand-daughter, I have to report that unfortunately she was very disappointed. The pot of glue was impossible to open without it all spilling out everywhere, thus making a thick gunk on the pink crystals and everything got stuck together. Also once assembled it was impossible to get the plastic dome on properly, it didn't fit into the groove. I've put this down to 2 stars, very disappointing.

This is a great idea for a gift, children who enjoy crafts and making things will absolutely love this.The light itself isn’t overly bright once constructed, but it’s the achievement of making your own bedside light that’s the most important.All the pieces you need to build and make your light are included. It does require some concentration as there’s a few fiddly parts, younger children may need some adult supervision. The mermaid is a cute addition to the scene within the light which has a plastic dome covering. The dome actually looks like it’s made from glass at first glance. The wooden base however isn’t as good a quality, but it’s being used to create an ocean scene so the quality can be overlooked to a certain degree!Overall this DIY light would make a great gift, it’s something different to give to someone who enjoys making things.

My 5 year old son, who is extremely creative and loves making anything, including unicorns really enjoyed using this.All the things you need are included within the pack, including the lights, which is handy. The glue included is very very thick. so when placing the little gems on the floor and the tree, et cetera it's a little bit hard to place properly due to the thickness and gloopiness - If it was a little bit thinner, it would have made the process a lot easier.I wouldn't recommend this to anyone wanting to give to a child under 5 as some of the pieces are small and fiddly.Also to note there are no instructions included so you just need to let the creativity take hold of you ...

When this came up for review I thought this would be a great gift idea and it’s something completely different to the usual…..This little mini landscape light is unusual and gets little ones to be creative….The set consists of a little wooden base…a strong plastic dome….A bag of coloured stones ..a mermaid in shell…tree…two boats and a little house…lights and the glue…So everything to get this made….I would imagine this is not an easy thing to make up as basically you have to work starting from the top and working down ….little ones will need lots of help….Bit over priced for the contents….all the bits seem well made and colourful…

This is a cute little toy toy to give as a gift, I actually built it with my niece who loved to try and put together a scene. We had to use our own glue as the glue provided was not the best.The little figures are super cute and are painted well. We loved the addition of the little star fish.No instructions were included so we did have to guess at a few things. The lights were a bit tricky to put on and try position in the correct place. However once all completed it did look nice.

This is similar to a make your own snow globe. The box contains a remote control, crystals, moss, unicorn and mermaid figurines, pebbles, light lamp, instructions and a clear jar lid. It looks nice lit up on the shelf. There are similar ones on the market, but quite like this one as our 8 year old could do it all herself.
