Rubie's Costume Spirit Gum and Remover

I was in charge of helping a theatre troupe performing as Christmas Elves get their ears attached. We ordered A TON of this product, one for every actor. While not the best quality on the market (I prefer Mehron personally) it absolutly did the trick. Everyone has their own small bottle of spirit gum and remover. While it is sometimes difficult to get the residue left from the gum off your skin, even with the remover, a quick follow-up with alcohol wipes seems to take care of the rest. Great for those of you starting out with cosplay

I have never used spirit gum before and it was a total surprise as to how sticky this stuff really is. Used it on my son's face to hold a "scar" for his Terminator costume. Applied around 8 AM before school and didn't take off until 10 PM at night. It stayed put the entire time.Word of caution - you will need to use lots of remover and patience to get this off of skin. Make sure that anyone taking it off uses this and doesn't just rip it right off. My husband did this in one spot and removed some skin for my son's face. He was fine but it definitely hurt.

I've used several spirit gums for various purposes and this is by far the worst I've ever tried to use. I bought this because I only needed a little to help fix a santa mustache in the correct location and no matter what, I could not create a bond. I used it very close to my husband's own mustache and it didn't even make his own hair sticky at all. To be clear, I wasn't trying to attach to his mustache, I just mean it's so un-tacky that the excess that got in his stache wasn't even sticky.

I was so bummed out! I went to Recife, Brazil for Carnaval and planned my costumes ahead of time. It's a week long party event, so I had multiple costumes, a few I needed spirit gum for, but it didn't stick. My elf ears refused to stay on and I just spent all day with ugly looking glue stains on my skin. A few days before I first used this I injured my foot and had to get it sutured, so the whole time I had the gum on, I was sitting down (therefore not moving around and not sweating a lot) but it still refused to stick.

We used this product with rubber neck bolts for a Frankenstein costume. The adhesive did hold quite well, despite my daughter hopping and dancing around like a little maniac all evening. Even in a very warm environment, they held well. Be sure that after spreading the spirit gum on the product you're trying to adhere that you allow it to sit and become quite tacky before you stick it on. It took us a few tries to figure out that when the directions say "allow to become tacky" they mean REALLY tacky and gummy. We got the best result by allowing it to sit for about 5 minutes before sticking it to skin. My only complaint was that it's very difficult to remove. It does come with a remover, but we did not get great results using it. We used the entire bottle and my daughter still had residue on her neck that her hair would get stuck in. Showering and scrubbing with soap didn't help much, either. Rubbing alcohol after using the entire bottle and 2 showers helped.

I used to adhere elf ears. Per the reviews, I didnt put too much on my ears in order to make the removal process painless. Ears came right off after 12 hrs (noted: I was outside in the cold so if you’re in a more humid temperature, you’ll probably need more glue.

I used this spirit gum to adhere a few small pieces of costume flair to my collar area, which was exposed. It took several minutes to get tacky enough after applying to the pieces; probably I used too much gum. The pieces adhered securely for about 10 hours until I peeled them off. They came off very easily at that point without even using the remover (which I did use to remove the piney residue). So, no complaints...I was surprised at how secure it was, considering how easily they came off when I wanted them to. I kept checking throughout the day to make sure everything was still attached. No adverse skin reaction.

This Spirit Gum worked well to attach Skittle candy to skin. It works the best by putting the Spirit Gum on the skin then applying the object. It didn't stick as well when we put it on the candy then placed it on our skin. It also does not work if you have used any kind of body or hand lotion. The Remover was adequate but took quite a bit of time to remove the Spirit gum. Overall would buy again if needed.

I needed this gum to stick a witches nose onto my face as I was playing the wicked witch of the west in Wizard of Oz. Unfortunately, during my acting, the nose kept falling off, which amused the rest of the cast but not me nor the director. Fortunately, it was only a dress rehearsal and not in front of an audience. I didn't use the nose for the performances, although many cast members jokingly said they couldn't see the difference!! I also reacted badly to it and had a red mark on the bridge of my nose for over a week.

Its like superglue for your skin! Obviously nothing too heavy will work, but small/ lightweight prosthetics aren't going anywhere.The only thing I would recommend is being gentle with your skin when pulling the prosthetics off - it sticks so well that it could take the first layer of skin off if you're not careful!

Perfect stuff. I bought this to help keep on my prosthetic vulcan ears for an event i'm doing and the spirit gum works perfectly. I'd recommend this to anyone sticking any form of small prosthetics to their body. I have very sensitive skin and did not react to this product.
