JK Rowling it's not
I have a feeling this is a self-published book without an editor's red pencil handy. What can you say about a book that's 652 pages long. A lot, starting with "it's too long!" It's supposed to be a bit of fantasy and a bit of real life situations inspired by the author's unfortunate childhood. The same inspirational message could have been gotten across with about half the verbiage. Since the author is British it would probably have been helpful to have a small glossary in the back in case some readers don't know that a "torch" is a flashlight, a "jumper" is a sweater and a "flannel" is a wash cloth etc. All that aside, some of the situations stretched credulity even by fiction and fantasy standards. Apparently there was no thought given to the need for eating, sleeping, wearing the same clothes throughout the story, bathing and other toilet necessities as the story winds around poor Polly and her attempt to escape her dreary life. If you have the time and patience you will probably find this a hard book to put down once you start it as you yearn to know just what improbable situations will crop up next. Don't spoil it for yourself by trying to make sense of some of the events or wondering if the author has left "probable" and jumped headlong into "ludicrous." It's a sad, happy, inspiring romp that has a few life lesson tucked in there that most everyone could benefit from. I would love to see this story come to life as an animated feature film!

Polly Brown: A Modern-day Oliver With a Twist
Polly Brown: A Modern-day Oliver With a Twist is a "must read" book. Tricia Bennett is an extremely articulate writer. She will have you laughing and crying all at the same time! You will fall in love with Polly Brown, a young orphan girl, as she invites you into her world of despair, hope, strife, encouragement, strength and plea with God. She meets a ragamuffin tramp who knocks on the orphanage door and changes her life forever. Polly takes you on a most wonderfully adventurous journey as she makes her way to a mountain top of miracles. Join Polly Brown on her miraculous encounter! I highly recommend this book and just can't wait to see the movie!! Polly Brown: A Modern-day Oliver With a Twist

Great Book and Author
Polly Brown is an amazing book. I would recommend to anyone who just needs and boost in confidence or self-esteem. When reading the book it reveals something about yourself. As Polly finds who she is so do the readers. If you've never heard of the author that's because this is her first book. She's a great author. I highly recommend this book.
