Heavy Duty Piece - Works Great!
This is a VERY Heavy Duty strike plate. I used it to replace an old "two hole" strike plate from an ancient mortise lock and strike plate combo in my 100+ year old home. Though this has only one hole, it is long enough to accommodate both the original door knob latch and the deadbolt latch below it. The screws are very puny as is the norm but I used #9 x 3" star drive construction screws purchased locally and was able to drive them into the backing 2x4 behind the door frame. This is about as solid as you are going to get for an old lock like this. It looks great too, unless you dislike polished brass finishes. All my other nearby hardware is polished brass so I am happy with it. I was pleasantly surprised by how solid and nice this piece is. In my case I did not have to mortise the plate into the door frame as there was plenty of space between the door's end and the frame. If your door fits really tightly at the frame you will have to chisel away a bit of wood from the face of the door frame to make this fit.

Solves a pesky problem
This is a great idea for those not-so-typical situations. I put a lock on my back gate and when it was installed it was just fine. But for those of you with gates and only regular latches, you know how heat, cold and humidity can cause the gate to sag a good deal and make it difficult to latch. That is what happened to my gate, so much so that I had to struggle to lift the gate to get the bolt to engage. If you have a gate, you also know what a pain it is to adjust it as it changes with the weather. Anyway, I found this plate, ordered it and it is great. There is plenty of room for the bolt to slide in without any resistance no matter how much the gate changes. This became very important since I had to have back surgery and cannot lift the gate until I recover several months from now. If you want to solve the problem of an ever shifting gate, this is just the thing you need. It is a little disconcerting that the shipping was more that the product, but in the end it was well worth it.

An easy solution to that pesky door that won't latch any longer
In my experience, it is not uncommon for doors to sag a bit over time as a house ages and breathes. When this happens, simply moving the old strike plate isn't necessarily an option as there might not be enough wood to screw into when adjusted. The length of this strike plate can give you more flexibility and allow you to drill into clean wood.It has been perfect for my uses. I had two doors that wouldn't latch. 5 minutes later (maybe 30 if I had bothered to chisel and flush mount) they're both latching without issue.

"Settled" my problem...
Old home settles from winter to summer and the door, even though new from remodel, moves just enough to not latch properly when shut. This has solved that problem...period. Wish I had only found it 30 years ago !!! Easy to install...just remove old, replace, done.

Allows latching year round
The concrete on the "latch" side of the door would move up and down as of the freeze/thaw season changes.Installing this will allow my shed door to latch properly all year round. It is thicker than the standard stick plate, so it doesn't compromise the security issue from being taller. I did use longer screws to get it attached to the "meat" of the door frame. That's not a knock on them, it's just my preference.

Fix the door that won’t close
I had a door that was out of adjustment due to weather and settling, and wouldn’t latch closed without slamming or tweaking the knob. I purchased this strike plate and installed and now the door can flex up/down by 1/2” and still close without any problems. This plate is as durable as the original and with a dremmel and basic woodworking skills it can be flush mounted in about 10 minutes.

Solved the yearly misaligned latch problem.
As regular as clockwork, every winter, my door shifts just enough that it won't latch. A non-latching door means chasing the cat around the neighborhood when it blows open. To keep it shut I have to lock it. A bit of a pain when I am only going to grab the mail. The old plate was removed, the hole extended up and down a little and this plate put on. Problem solved. The plate is as advertised and arrived right on time. It even came with screws. I highly recommend the product and seller.

It works.
Item arrived promptly and has been installed. I'm happy to once again be able to lock my door. I've ordered these twice, as a second door stopped latching, but I knew what to do! I'm impressed with the fast service, the quality of the item, and the fact I can get an item that was not available locally. Our house shifts with the weather, making doors impossible to latch. This solves the problem. It may take some mortising (you will need some chisel skills for that), so be prepared to spend some time. Years ago, I had to hire a locksmith who had to fabricate a new strike plate from flat stock. Expensive! But you must lock the front door, no matter what! This solves the problem much better.
