W61PR - Tradition of Excellence Book 1 - Percussion

I liked this book for my granddaughter to learn on!

Our band instructor requested that we purchase this specific book for beginner lessons. W61PR-Tradition of Excellence Book 1-Percussion was cheaper to order through Amazon and arrived quickly. The book is durable and of the same quality we viewed at the local music store.

I knocked off a star because I didn't get the promised DVD with the book like others have received fairly recently. Instead, I was given a way to download the media via computer or smart phone. Now that I have it downloaded to my phone, I find that very handy. It just wasn't what was promised to this old school dinosaur.

Decent book if you have an instructor to teach you the instrument (as my kids did...hence my purchase). I wouldn't recommend it as a learn-it-yourself book though. It's more of a book of songs/notes. The best thing about it IMHO is that it includes a DVD with the musical accompaniment so that you can hear how it's supposed to sound and play along. The play-along DVD was definitely a great feature and made this worth the price.

Both the Tradition and Standard of Excellence Percussion books are proving to be an excellent investment. Both arrived in excellent condition. What is even better is as a percussion teacher it is nice to have resources that combine a variety of instruments played at the same time right off the top. No more scrambling around in a book to match up parts. This way when my students are in secondary school they are already familiar with the layout.
