Nice activity gift.
Dino dig.Great little activity to do with my daughter. She loves dinosaurs and has been learning about fossils at preschool so when we did this together she was fully engaged. The bones come apart and placed in the sand type material for children to use the tiny spade included to dig around for the bones and then assemble them at the end. At the moment we keep digging for them and putting them back as she's too young (3.5) to assemble the skeleton, and for this reason it really should be done with supervision until she's older. The sand hasn't dried out. My only gripe is the volcano doesn't stay closed very well, and so you'll have to keep scooping the sand back in if you don't keep it somewhere secured when in use.But all in all a great little gift

Triceratops Dino Dig
I ordered this Tricerotops Dino Dig set for my grandson who loves to play with new things when he comes over to visit me. Everything you need to play with this set is included. The 2 ended tool is brilliant as it is a shovel and a brush to sweep away the dirt as you dig. My grandson absolutely loved playing with this fossil, set as he was delighted whenever he unearthed a surprise. Between the two of us it took a little patience but at the end we had a magnificent Tricerotops to play with which again my Grandson was delighted with. We loved this so much that we ordered another kit in a different design to play with. Great for supervised play for younger children or for older children to occupy themselves with.

Fun straight forward digging sand!
This ‘volcano’ dig discovery is such a fun set for my dinosaur max toddler. He’s only 2 and a half so it’s fin for us to do together. In the pack your get the volcano, inside the volcano is the ‘Dino mud’ which you dig through using the spade provided. To uncover all kinds of mysteries. (Dinosaur bones, a gem)In the whole set you get: reusable dino dirt, digging tool, Triceratops bones, volcano case with fossil moulds, mystery gem, and dino fact cardThe Dino dirt is reusable, and my son loves to do this over and over. So for me it’s excellent value for money. However I can see how it may be a one hit wonder for some children there for making it quite expensive.

Fun dino digging game, but not what you think!
Got kids who like dinosaurs? Do they like digging? This is the Learning Resources Store GeoSafari Dino Discovery Dig with 6 hidden surprises including dino skeleton, fossil mold, gem, dino dirt, mini spade and dino fact leaflet. This pack is not what you think! I thought you'd get a pack of dirt with dinosaur bones to uncover. Well not, it is a plastic volcano case, with a plastic bag of Dino bones, dirt which contains gems which you dig out with spade provided. The dirt is like a hybrid sand / magic sand, as you get a mould with 3 shapes to mould the dirt in. Hidden in the dirt is a gem, random colour.Building the dinosaur is pretty easy enough, a nice skeleton of a triceratops. My youngest liked it, my eldest liked helping her, not sure what we are going to do with the dirt! But luckily you get a plastic case to store it all.Overall for the price this is a relative bargain, so I'd fully recommend as a great stocking filler.

interesting idea, questionable execution
I'm conflicted with this, as the idea is great and I enjoyed it myself, however the children found the set as supplied too frustrating. The fossil holding goop is like a rice crispy square from hell. It's densely packed with a sticky gluey gel binder. The binder doesn't hold it solid and can move under its own weight, so it forced the bottom back of the volcano apart as it doesn't latch on very well at all. the digging implement is a cool design, with a clawed end, but it's completely impractical for actually digging through the medium. It's looks nice, but the execution needs a rethink.

Digging up Dinos
I absolutely had a blast playing with my nephew and this Dino Discovery Dig toy. He is majorly into anything and everything Dinosaurs so it was a win as a Sunday activity. He was very excited with the volcano housing everything and was most excited to have the finished Dino skeleton to add to his collection. With it being 4 plus I was unsure if he may find it a bit difficult as he is 4 but it was ideal for us. He didn’t struggle with it and it kept his attention which was a blessing for everyone! I liked being able to talk about the different elements of the kit with him like the fossil moulds, Dino fact card and the mystery gem. He really enjoyed the playing of course! I think what I like about this the most as a whole is that the dinosaur dirt is reuseable, there are 6 surprises to go through and that my nephew was learning all at the same time! It was a superb buy for a lazy Sunday with the family.

Triceratops
My son loved doing this! Inside a nicely packaged plastic volcano is 6 surprises;1. A dinosaur skeleton that you can build- this one is the triceratops one.2. A fossil mould3. 1 x mystery gem4. Reusable Dino dirt- this is a bit like kinetic sand but a bit more grainy and rock like. You can use this in the fossil mould.5. A digging tool- one side is a fork and the other a spade.6. Dino fact card.I prefer this type set to the ones where you dig through plaster of Paris as you can keep the “dirt” in this pack to play with. It is a nice mix of educational/play toy. Would make a great stocking filler.

Short lived activity
Once you open the plastic volacano casing you find the dinosaur at the back of the dino dirt alongside a gem, I was expecting to dig around in the dino dirt so this was quite dissapointing. The dinosaur skeleton was smaller than i expected and quite fiddly to put together due to the small parts, I think a 3 year would struggle to put thsi togetehr and would definetly need supervising. The dino dirt was quite dissapointing as well, very tightly compacted, while you are supplied with a small plastic digging tool thsi was off no use at all digging into the dirt when it's so compacted inside the volcanoe. I gave my son a metal spoon to dig out the dino dirt after he gave up trying to use the plastic digging tool supplied.I gave 3* as it's a nice concept with the volcano case for storing the dino dirt, creating your iown fossils with the dino dirt was exciting and the booklet was very informative just thought it is expensive for what it is.

So cute
My grandson 3yr old, loved this. I was disappointed the pieces of the dino and the gem stone were in a plastic bag not in the "dirt" I had to try to hide the pieces when he was opening it so he could dig for them.

Great sensory experience that’s different than just sand
The media could not be loaded. Says for 5+, my 2.5 year old really enjoyed this! The sticky rock/shell concoction was a different sensory experience for him than kinetic sand and was new to me as well. It isn’t messy in the least bit and is easy to mold and shape. When done, you just store the rock mixture in the volcano for next use. There are 3 small molds on the volcano so you can use them to make a shell as well as a couple other items. It comes with a small scooper to dig as well as a small crystal. The plastic crystal is small and a choking hazard to a young toddler, but that’s the only choking hazard in set. Would have liked to see this come with a couple more crystals to dig for, but oh well. All in all, kept my toddler amused for a bit and is small and manageable- not too overwhelming for him. Rock mixture feels good to play with. Definitely recommend for older toddler!

Grandchild approved!
My grandson loves all things dinosaur so this was a perfect project for him! It is hands-on and educational at the same time. I don't care what age you are it's fun to find hidden surprises and this did not disappoint. It's a great platform to encourage discussion about dinosaurs, or just to occupy a child so you can have a little break. I don't advise you leave them alone while doing it, to help mitigate any mess that occurs. It is more of a one man job because of it's smaller size so you can just observe and help to keep the mess in one place. I would get another of these for my other grandkids to do!

Not worth the money
We bought new and it came open and out of package. I thought that the Dino bones would be hidden in the sand already however they weren’t. I had to hide them and not all of them fit. It’s not worth the money and we ended up trying it and throwing it away.

Fun activity
We love these types of activities, super easy but it keeps the kids busy for a little while when I need to get something done.
