TLDR: Decent - but overpriced
Update: I've removed a star from my review. After about a month, I like this head unit but it's just too buggy. The Zlink Carplay went from disconnecting frequently, to being laggy, to not even being able to connect to my iPhone X. I had to purchase a dongle and use Autokit for Carplay - which has been working great. Lots of other bugs though: radio station randomly changes (sometimes so frequently I can't even listen to the radio), the climate controls keep popping up randomly, when turning on/off traction control it sometimes spazzes out or shows the wrong state. I've already done all the updates (MCU, etc.) and checked my wiring. Would like to see these issues be resolved.Installed in a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost Premium with Sync 2. Any of these systems are better than the base system or Sync 2 IMO. I had the Phoenix PX6 unit prior to this so I'll be making alot of comparisons. At time of purchase this unit was $1,245 – I will be reviewing this in accordance to expectations given it has a lot of similar competitors at almost half the price. Spoiler: I think it’s overpriced, so this will come across fairly harsh.Original: Packaging was fine, the device was secure. The box art itself honestly comes across as cheap, and I think Phoenix did a better job here. Notice how in all the photos there’s a poor photoshop job of the storage area at the bottom that becomes awkwardly small with this installed. The 12V outlet is still accessible but the door will rub against the bottom of the screen bezel. Inside the box you’ll find all the wiring you need and a note that says the manual was left out to be environmentally friendly and a PDF can be loaded on the device. That’s fine, and honestly commendable. The problem? Install your device to access the install instructions. Yeah, that doesn’t work unless you already know how to install it. At the time of writing, instructions are not on their website and when I went to look initially the site was redirecting to buy Windows from a sketch site. It took me a couple hours to install this radio. Comparatively, the Phoenix unit is truly plug and play and I was able to get it installed over lunch in about 30min thanks to a bunch of instructions and YT videos but it doesn’t offer much in the way of flexibility and has no RCA outputs. Back to this model, it comes with a ton of cables and allows for extreme flexibility (including 6RCA out), but this makes it complicated to install without some sort of guide. One thing I found annoying is you’re not able to use the factory amp and RCA outs at the same time. This could be an issue if you just want to add just a sub or run the 3.5s off the Ford amp like mine was setup.Build quality is good with just some slight gaps at the very top of the unit. The screen is far superior to the Phoenix model (which was my main issue with it). This Linkswell is larger, brighter, and has way better viewing angles (the Phoenix model seemed to be a TN panel – this is IPS). All the buttons feel good and the knobs are far more responsive then on others android units – they feel similar to OEM. Fitment wise this is a bit wider and will cover up the stitched leather surrounding your center dash. The color is dark grey rather than black, which isn’t really noticeable while driving, but also doesn’t match anything on the interior. Notice that the processor isn’t listed here. On their website it says this is an octo-core, and I used that to help justify the price. In reality, this is just another six core PX6 unit using the same hardware as it’s competitors. At this price I really expected it to beat the 30+ second boot time shared with the Phoenix unit.Software wise this is much more refined than the Phoenix model. It is a complete standalone unit and completely gets rid of the Ford APIM and ACM (this is an error in the current Amazon listing as it says the ACM “silver box” must stay). While it may seem great, trust me you don’t want to retain Sync and this gets rid of that. On the Phoenix unit all the audio gets passed through Sync as if you were plugged in through AUX and the HVAC controls can be slow / buggy. This unit is far more responsive and has superior sound quality and EQ as a result. One downside however is that you will lose your Sirius XM and HDRadio (if equipped) by getting rid of Sync. I think the software works extremely well and offers a ton of customization (its Android after all – only limited by your tech knowledge). There’s no app to change the button LED color – but I imagine installing the lamp APK off another PX6 unit will allow this to be changed. Subjectively the software could use some visual tweaks – the gradients in my opinion look cheap and out of place, but other apps – especially HVAC controls look better here. This will retain your heated/cooled seat functionality as well, you just have to change the model to MustangHi in the settings.Good product overall, works well and I’m happy with it. Minor issues, but they shouldn’t exist at this price point. In addition, only a 1 year warranty, but it’s hard to predict the future of this company.

Best radio upgrade for mustang
Easy install on base 2018 Mustang GT. No cutting wires. Completely plug and play. Does not keep any factory radio hardware like sync or cd player box. Keeps factory backup camera and sensor. Looks better than standard double din with aftermarket hvac controls.

No instructions and tech support hangs up on you when you need help
I do not recommend this product, I had it installed in my 2020 Mustang GT and it was a pain to figure out by the installer and by me after it was installed, I tried to call tech support but the 1 customer support agent is rude and nasty and hung up on me several time and could not answer any of my questions about the product. I recommend getting the phoenix version, it's cheaper and keeps most of your factory radio options, this one does not.
