I love this little light. It's light so it's not a hassle to carry, I think even the elderly or a child would have no problems holding it up for a while. The light is a brilliant blue white and bright enough to do anything you need to do, and the two light flaps are endlessly adjustable. It's amazing and convenient. I got mine, unboxed it, popped in the batteries and IT WORKS, so the folks complaining about lamps that don't work just got the oddball defective lights. For those complaining about the chunky bottom and the D cells, just stop and think for heaven's sake. The D batteries and the size of the bottom give the base enough weight to keep it stable, and from tipping over when it is set down. The handle is great for when you need to carry it around in the dark, and it can accommodate big hands and small hands. Like I said, I think this little light is win win. Light enough to go in a bug out bag and not add a lot of extra weight, and the compact size makes easy to pack without taking a lot of room. It's flat instead of round. It's also brighter than the other lamps I've seen. And it's affordable. You can't expect high end materials in a 10.00 lamp, so even if it does get destroyed somehow you're not losing too much. The plastics keep it light and super portable. It probably wouldn't take a lot of rough handling but then again it's a lamp not a flashlight, or a flippin football. The only thing that could have been better was if it had a solar charging internal battery pack. The base is plenty big enough for solar cells or the back of the bulb housing!

After Reading some negative reviews regarding functional problems and plastic quality and finally receiving the lights, I can partially agree. The Plastic is not the most rugged. If you treat them carefully, it should be ok. I too had functionality issues straight out of the box, The Battery connections weren't making continuous contact, so the lights would/wouldn't light when the unit was moved/vibrated. They are thin tin plates and the Negative pole springs move around. After accessing under a magnifying work light, I stretched the springs to apply more tension when with the batteries installed & The springs are held by a thin tin tab. Centering the springs, then Pressing down the tabs more to make the springs contact tighter to the plates cured the problem and the lights seem to be working fine now. That's what you get, we want everything "CHEAPER", so Companies farm all the manufacturing jobs to China. I find most everything I buy nowadays that's made in China, Need some sort of tweaking out of the box to make it work correctly.

We bought 2 of these from a different sourced for our tent trailer and they worked really well. They are VERY versatile and can direct LOTS of light in most any direction. We've only used them for our first 3-day outing so we can't speak to their long term durability. I just ordered 3 more (this time from Amazon) to keep in our home for emergencies. We'll keep some in the trailer, too. They are not super ruggedly constructed, but don't appear to be flimsy either. If treated with respect, I hope they will give lots of good service.They produce lots of light--MUCH more that the LED camping lantern we saw at Costco.They take 3 D-cells and apparently use very little "juice," thus saving the trailer's battery and reducing the need for energy. This in turn also can reduce air pollution from fossil-fuel power generation.UPDATE. A couple of camping trips later, these lanterns are still functioning well. We now are using 3 of these lights in our tent-trailer. They are super VERSATILE and very bright.

I am a reenactor and this appeared to be the perfect product with which to light up my tent at night. The concept and design appeared to be exactly what is needed in the "A" frame tent I use. When I unpacked it, I was disappointed with the quality as opposed to the price. Most of the lantern is made of a light plastic which appears much to delicate for for camping. Also, it wasn't nearly as bright as the description suggests. I have smaller lanterns that throw almost as much light. Placement of the three D-cell batteries is awkward and the battery cover didn't quite close right. I turned and rotated the "wings" and they appeared (IMHO) to be too fragile for camping or emergencies. The handle, too, appears fragile. On the upside, it IS light and compact and does throw a fair amount of light which can be easily directed. I can't comment about battery life because I haven't taken this out camping yet, so, this is an initial impression. Delivery was spot on as it usually is with Amazon. I will probably keep this lantern to check it out, I'm a little disappointed but, Super Bright 30 LED Swivel Lantern/ Light (Swivels 360°)  curious to see if my initial impression is accurate.

Good build quality for the money (a few other reviewers seem to forget the price they paid when considering build quality)Very pleased with the amount and quality of light.The ability to turn either one or both panels on and the fact that they swivel adds a LOT to the versatility - no need to send light in directions that it isn't needed.Suggest getting two because of the odd 3-battery (D) arrangement. I buy in bulk, but if you buy D-cells in 2- or 4-packs, you don't want just one battery left over.

I like the functionality of this lamp, but unfortunately after a couple of months the wiring/connections started to go a little srewy. Now, when it's set on a stable surface it works fine, but if you need to move it around one side of the lights goes out until it's stable again. Inconvenient if you're trying to use it while carrying it.

This is a very handy led light. With the batteries in place it has a substantial weighted bottom. You can get light where you want it because of the unlimited swivel on the two side. It is great for working on things from behind, like cables on components. My second one and I am buying more as Christmas gifts. The seller also included a free small magnetic light with hanger.
