The Bomber Aircrew Experience: Dealing Out Punishment from the Air

They definitely were the greater generation - well written great book

This is a curious book. The images are fantastic and I have not seen many of them. But over the course of reading this book I am not really sure what it is about. Supposedly it is about bomber aircrews and there are some excellent first hand accounts from WWII included. But then the book starts meandering through aviation history, armament history, the making of the atomic bomb, etc., all in small snippets with not a lot of meat. The chapter on Fighter Escorts is 100% images and no text. The images in many cases have no relationship to the text nearby. And the majority of the text in this book is excerpted from other aviation history books.This is a well produced very pretty book. I just do not think there is a lot of cake underneath all of the frosting.
