Diet Slave No More!: A Fun Literary Journey into Your Self

A sound approach to eating to lose and keep your proper weight that is easy to follow. A fun read as a bonus.
First If someone comes up with a diet it is very likely you will lose weight if you follow it. The rub is that it may be difficult to follow the diet if you have a regular life with lots of obligations. You could book a month or two at a diet place (aka a fat farm). That will set you back a considerable amount of money and of course time. Only a few are in a position to incur such an expense.Secondly if you manage to follow a diet, will you gain the weight back once you reach to your desired weight and you think you can resume your previous eating habits or when your will power collapses?Thirdly, is the diet healthy? will your body suffer? Are you ready for the "Only Eat Potatoes Diet" or to consume packaged diet food or some other unusual practice? probably not as a first choice. How are you going to get the scientific information to find out how to eat? Can you rely on a flashy website with advice you may not be sure of its source or that may also be trying to sell you something? Are you going to read thick human physiology tomes? Likely not for most people. What to do?Luckily Dr Svetlana Kogan a medical doctor with top notch credentials has written a book that first teaches you how your body works in easy to digest chunks of information. Her in depth knowledge is presented in a light hearted but very informative manner. The book is very human. Dr. Kogan presents lots of examples of her actual life and personal journey to become a physician. It is a fun, easy read, yet it covers a lot of ground. You will feel well served by the information provided. Her eating lifestyle approach is clear, easy to remember and to follow with a small amount of discipline. There are no drugs or odd concoctions to take, but advise on important changes in how and what you eat. Diet Slave No More!: A Fun Literary Journey into Your Self

Great book, easy to read and follow
The book that deserves to be on the list of best selling health books of all time, and on the shelfs of all the people who care about their health and weight. Yes, the book is about how to loose and control your weight, but it is much more than that. The author wants the reader not just to follow her suggestions, but to understand why, and how it all works. The author made this seemingly impossible task, of explaining to average reader how our body works, so simple and entertaining, any middle-schooler can easily pick it up. The basic idea behind this weight loss program is very simple, much easier to follow than any dieting programs, and can be easily explained in few sentences. However, to fully comprehend the concept, I strongly suggest to read the entire book, as everything there is important to have a clear picture of what to do and why. At least for me it was an eye opener. The book is a very easy and fast read

Read this book
I thoroughly enjoyed and was motivated by Dr. Kogan's book. It is a personal and extremely entertaining narrative of Dr. Kogan's journey into and through medicine as well as a useful and practical approach to eating. She makes extremely important points about the way we eat and provides useful and easy suggestions for managing our eating habits. There is an engaging intimacy to Dr. Kogan's writing that allows the reader to feel as if they can readily know and trust her. Her holistic as well as medical perspectives offer an insight into our own sometimes less that healthy habits and behaviors. Her ideas to help us manage your eating are backed up by easy to understand explanations. The book is easy to read and equally as easy to follow.Alan Hilfer, Ph.D.

It Changed My Life
I had the most fortunate luck this past summer when I decided to get a new doctor. I selected Dr. Kogan for her outstanding reputation as an internist. Before the visit, I also discovered that she had written this book. I ordered it as soon as I left her office. She did not push it on me. In fact, she didn’t even mention it during my exam! She is a class act. Fast forward to today...Having read it, I have been able to easily reset my synapses. I cannot say enough about it. Her book has taught me more about healthy eating than every single program and book that I have read/tried in my 53 years. I have been an early childhood educator for almost 30 years, and I wish that Dr. Kogan would also write a book for children. It is incredibly informative, entertaining, and left me feeling upbeat about actually looking forward to making the emotional and dietary changes that one needs to lead a healthy, long life. Everybody who has struggled with emotional eating must read this book! The accompanying app makes it even more fun! It Changed My Life. Thanks, Dr. Kogan!

Educating!
Excellent book! Despite the title, this is more than just a dieting instructional - it is a light-hearted, straightforward and informative perspective on our health, holistically and medically.I read this book on my winter vacation and the fluidity and succinctness of the chapters lent me to finish it within the one week. At least to me, the fundamental point that Dr. Kogan tries to make is that it is our psychological well-being that critically determines our physical vitality. In other words, mind-body-spirit. As I flipped through the pages, I kept in the back of my mind that even as Dr. Kogan introduces to us new and innovative ways of healing (eg. Eastern, holistic), she has a firm medically trained foundation (eg. Western) that supports her reasoning.Full disclosure: Dr. Kogan has been my primary care physician for the last three years.

A change to keep.
Reading the book is very much like a visit to Dr. Kogan’s office. She guides a reader systematically and logically through a progression of facts that lead to a conclusion of healthy living. Understanding why a change is necessary makes following the regimen so much easier. Not relying upon a “magical chemical” or extreme food selection will make a change more likely to endure. The physiological reasoning is offered in easy to understand terms for the layman. As I was reading, I could almost hear Dr. Kogan’s voice. I have tried many of the popular diet schemes...with some success, but I always backslid. I think that this is a “change to keep”.
