These stainless steel knives won't ever get a chance to rust because they will never be put in a dishwasher and they will be completely dry when put back in the block. That's simply proper care. The ones I received look fantastic and are very sharp. My wife has cut herself 3 times already. I'll report back in a year with a update but right now I'm very pleased and would not hesitate to give a set as a gift.

I agree as much as anyone that it's shady for them to advertise these as dishwasher safe, while also recommending that you don't put them in the dishwasher. It's a bait-and-switch. But if you've read the reviews and you decide to buy it anyway (which is exactly what I did), hopefully that's because you plan to wash them by hand. That's what I've been doing and everything has been just peachy. Millions of peaches. BTW: It takes less than a minute to wash and dry a knife.The knife block is coated in something that I can't quite identify and I'm not sure how it's going to look in a year. It may be all peeled off, exposing that the block itself is made of asbestos or Styrofoam or the common cold. But I think it's more likely that it'll continue looking just as it does.One thing that always bothered me about knife blocks is that I never knew exactly what each knife is for. It makes me feel stupid and I see you nodding your head yes, which means you're just as stupid as I am. But don't you fret, because these knives have little notations RIGHT ON THE BLADES that tell you what each one is for. I feel so freakin smart when I use these knives. I also feel smart when I don't put them in the dishwasher.

Very fine, cuts well and is nowhere near dull. Highly recommend not putting in the washer. They rust, and need to be dried right away.

I was skeptical at first because of the price but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice these knives are.They are extremely sharp and cut very easy. I like that they are a single piece, meaning they don’t have rivets holding the handle together.Don’t get me wrong, they are not as firm as more expensive knives but they are firm enough to do the job safely.Definitely recommend.

I researched knives for several months scared I would end up buying a set of awful knives so putting it off till I found this set and reading all the positive reviews and the price was amazing so decided if I bought them and got them not liking them I could at least return them.. but once I got them and have been using them I absolutely love them .. I recommend this set for anyone that might be looking for a great set of knives

I received my knives today and I am very happy with the look and feel of them. The block that came with them to store them was a little off. A few of the steak knives did not sit well in it, and one would not go all the way in at all. I contacted the company and within hours I received a reply email and they are sending out a new set with the block. I could not be happier.

So I'm not exactly the type of person to wash dishes right away. These knives are awesome, slick, and durable, however, if you don't wash them right away, they tend to get little rust spots. I was able to remove the spots after a lot of scrubbing and determination, but it started after less than 24 hours. As long as you use the knives properly and take extra care of them (wash AND dry after use) then this set is perfect.

I have had this set for a year now. I purchased it because I like the knives are a single piece instead of bolted/glued handles and it has held up pretty well these past 12 months. I’m only giving it 2 stars for a couple of reasons, the first being that two of the least used knives are starting to rust, the pairing and utility knives. Typically I wouldn’t care and I would just trash them and buy two new ones BUT this came with a lifetime warranty, which comes to my second reason for the rating… unable to get replacements for these 2 knives that supposedly have a lifetime warranty. And the last reason for the low rating is the inconsistency of the quality. I use the “slicer” almost daily. I know it’s overkill to slice butter with a knife that big but I do, I also use it to slice fruit and veggies and I have used it to cut my dogs pills in half. I have forgotten the slicing knife was in dishwater and it has soaked overnight on several occasions (yes, I hand wash my dishes) and yet it remains unrusted and looks dam near like new. I have not sharpened any of them either. Would I purchase another aster cook knife set? Probably not since the warranty is trash.
