Rainstorm

I bought this book for my 3-year-old granddaughter. She is not quite ready to make up words for the story, but enjoyed ME telling what was happening to the boy on each page. As I read, then hesitated before turning the next page, she would sometimes add something that I missed from the illustrations. So fun! And since there are NO WORDS only illustrations, you can tell the story differently each time you read. I can't wait for her to pick it up and begin telling her own story. The actual story in pictures is very clever and exciting.

I have a young niece who is a reluctant reader. For a Christmas gift last year, she received a book each month from Librarian Aunt Donna. I chose Caldecott Medal winners. She loved every book I sent to her and really got into them. She want's me to send her more. That reluctant reader is learning the joy of reading and being introduced to some wonderful books. Rainstorm is a wordless book. A child can tell the story to a parent by "reading the pictures" and telling what the story is about. A lonely boy finds friends in an unexpected place.

It is difficult to find a children's book that not only has a beautiful story, but that tells it masterfully, as well. So often I find myself editing a story as I'm reading to my son so that the pace and plot keep his interest. With this book, I ended up "reading" it at least 5 or 6 times in a row with my son the very first time we opened the cover---and he's two! The illustrations are captivating and are perfectly paced and arranged to capture interest and propel the story. This author/illustrator has mastered the art of the narrative---and all without words. My son and I are captivated by it . Thank you!

This beautifully illustrated wordless book is just brilliant! Best wordless book I have found yet! I got this for my three year old daughter, and she immediately opened it up and began to "read" the story to me. I love that she can "read" this book, even though she is still too young to read. We have so much fun tellin each other the story.

Its been interesting watching our 4 y.o. get better and add more detail as she grows.It was also empowering for her to "read" a story to us.

I love this series of books. I purchased them for my 4 year old grandson but found that my 3 year old granddaughter was totally taken in by the idea that she could read too. What a great tool to get your children wanting to learn how to read!

This is absolutely a lovely book. The illustrations are simple but charming. Allowing the narrator to tell an imaginative and wonderful story. It's just what every rainy day needs.

Barbara Lehman's books are always creative, and provide a wonderful illustrated storyline for readers to follow. At a time when many materials that children engage in are prescribed, she provides books that allow individual imaginations to flourish.

No se si es que no es tan bueno como los otros dos libros d ela misma autora o es que se parecen entre si demasiado. De todas formas para un niño de unos 5 años es bastante bueno.
