Only The Original Will Do
I originally bought another item that says it’s a 'replacement' for this drain and overflow kit, because the "official" Moen Tub And Drain kit had increased in price by over $20 since I bought it for my first tub, and I thought that I could save some money on my bathroom renovation. When I got it, it didn’t quite match the color of my Moen Voss Roman tub faucet - yes, it was brushed nickel, but it was too gray in comparison, where this Moen has a bit of a yellow tint to it. I decided that it was worth the extra money to have all my fixtures match, so I ordered this "official" Moen tub drain, and am returning the other one.You can see the color difference in my side-by-side photo.ps - remember that if you’re replacing a 2-hole tub overflow with a 1-hole, you’ll need to buy the conversion kit.

High quality and beautiful color hard to install
I changed colors in my bathroom from chrome to brushed nickel so I needed a new drain stopper. This one is solid and the color is beautiful too. It matches with my other Moen attachments. I bought one at a home improvement store…it didn’t have a nice brushed nickel look, was light weight, and felt cheap so I took it back and bought this one through Amazon. After receiving it, I took it to a local plumbing store to verify the thread and size matched up to the one I removed and it did. It didn’t come with the rubber gasket, so I bought one which my setup required. After watching many YouTube videos, I finally found one that was useful, and was able to install it. The plumbing store recommended this putty and it worked so much better than the harder putties and I tried several! To install I first used my hand and turned the drain from left to right, while at the same time applying light pressure on top, then switched to the tool and finished tightening. I kept checking to make sure it was going on straight and that excess putty was coming up all around edges. I had to start over several times until it went on perfect. Most YouTube videos make it look so easy to install but it wasn’t. In hindsight I should have hired a plumber but I did learn a lot. Thanks for a quality product!!

Works Great, need one $11 tool to install
Our old tub drain looked terrible. My response to my complaining wife was,"Who sees our tub drain?" Pure logic didn't matter. Ordered the style & finish she wanted. I didn't own the simple tool needed to remove and install this item. Went to a big box, paid $11 bucks. Unscrewed the old one. I used an old toothbrush to clean the pipe threads inside the drain. Rolled some plumbers putty with my hands into a rope like piece, placed the putty around the base of the new piece and carefully threaded it into the drain. Wiped away the excess putty, screwed in the water stopper. Accepted significant praise from wife.

A good part, but no bath shoe gasket
I purchased two of these units to replace pop-up drain plugs installed when the house was built. The installation process was pretty straightforward. (I recommend using a tub drain removal wrench to remove the old drain, and to tighten this one.) This drain installed easily.I don't expect that a drain installation kit will include some of the items you use in pluming repairs -- plumber's putty, teflon tape (if you use it) and the like. However, at this price point I think that the drain should include a bath shoe gasket (which fits between the drain and the bottom of the bathtub), a part that I would replace as a matter of course with any drain replacement. (Old gaskets can become brittle or may otherwise need to be replaced, and nobody wants to make a hardware store run after removing the drain.) Also, the gasket that seals the drain plug when it is closed is on the flimsy side.If you intend to install the overflow drain cover, note the instruction that you need a conversion kit if you are replacing a two-screw overflow cover with the single-screw cover included in this kit. You can pick up a bath shoe gasket and a third party conversion kit at a hardware store for about $3-4.

Necessary Hardware Not Included or Linked
This review starts with what is not included. There is one long screw for the overflow, but no other hardware. There are no washers included which are needed to properly install. A trip to the local plumbing supply store (not Ace, not Lowes, not Home Depot...but a specialized plumbing supply store) will be necessary, unless you know "exactly" what hardware you need and you can order from the internet. Another thing I do not like is that there currently is no link to order a Tub Drain Wrench (or Dumbbell wrench) on this item page. I highly recommend buying one from Amazon as the ones at plumbing supply stores can cost $3-$15 more depending on your locality. Finally, there is no information directly informing a customer if they are purchasing the right drain assembly. The difference is NOT the diameter at the top of the drain but the diameter at the bottom of the drain. I will provide the correct information here. This means you may be better off ordering the wrench first, then ordering a drain assembly after you know.Once the old drain assembly is removed, measure the diameter of the bottom of the drain. If the drain is 1 and 1/2 inches at the bottom, you have the coarse thread. This is that product. However, If the drain is 1 and 3/8" at the bottom, you have the fine thread. This was not easy to install as necessary parts were not included. This heavily affects my value for money, as now I have to factor in mileage and wear and tear on my vehicle. However, the style is top notch. The good thing is that once all parts and tools are available within reach, it is very easy to install. I filled my tub up with ten inches of water afterwards and marked it. I let it sit for over a half hour. The water didn't drop at all. If it weren't for these saving graces, my rating would be lower. For the record my true rating is 3.5 stars out of 5, but nowhere near 4 stars out of five.

Functions great and got more than I thought
Didn't realize this came with the faceplate as well. Looks great and works great... no leaks. (Only small wrinkle waas that I had to buy a drain wrench and apparently there are different sized wrenches and got the wrong one on the first go.)

Drain works like it should.
The part arrives at promised. This drain is slightly different that the one I was replacing and because of that threw my for a loop. With the original drain you needed to pull up and twist to hold the drain plug open. This one is simply pull up to open and push down to close.Installation was really easy. I added some plumbers tape on the threads and some plumbers putty under the lip and screwed it in by hand (making sure not to cross thread). Once it was in hand tight I placed a pair of pliers into the slots and using a Cresent wrench finished tightening the drain. I then removed the excess putting and cleaned up the area. The drain plug was then screwed into the drain. To make sure there were no leaks I filled the tub up with water and marked the level of water. I then left it for 30 minutes and came back to see if the water lever changed. It did not.All in all the installation was straight forward. The product is operating as it should.

Wrong size. NOT 1 1/2” as advertised.
I had a similar issue as others. The drain size is much larger than advertised (not 1 1/2”, closer to 1 3/4” diameter!!!) and so it doesn’t fit my tub. I ordered two of these for a renovation and by the time we were ready to install, the return window was closed. So now I’m stuck with two very lovely but expensive, unusable components. Disappointing because these are very nice - solid and well built.

Good purchase
Gold matched up 85 percent to the riobel gold fixtures. Most places only sell chrome and most plumbers only carry chrome bit I think matching this with gold is great. Going to probably get a gold handle for the toilet.

Poor Quality - doesnt drain properly due to washer collapsing
Drain itself is great as well as the overflow cover - however the drain mechanism has a washer that is so flimsy it collapses when the water drains and stops the water from flowing properly.... very poor design - I am surprised that MOEN would put their name on this product as they generally make good stuff

Good Set
Great set, however, not the one I received from Amazon. I wound up returning it to Amazon because of defects but bought the identical one from Home Depot. Very sturdy, easy to install (with the right tools) and looks great.Would recommend.
