GORE WEARC5 Men's Cycling Bib Shorts with Seat Insert

Runs very small, very lightweight
Most importantly, unless your percentage of body fat is very low, size up one or even two sizes. Are these worth it? Well, the difference between the C3 and C5 is that the more expensive one has a thin layer of wind-resistant material in the crotch. You know, to avoid windchill on your junk.As far as that goes, the product description describes a “cup“ but there isn’t anything actually cup-like about it. In other words, no more support then any other bike shorts. So, I don’t think the product description oversells those features. The Gore website description is accurate that these are very formfitting. Also on that website, people complain about the seam in the back of the knee. Trying these on I can feel it too and understand how it might be annoying. It is a piece of plastic reflective tape, inside and out. But no one really wants a piece of plastic against the back of your knee while doing 90 rpms for hours. And reflective tape inside the shorts does no good, tho it is good to have on the outside.Lastly the “chamois” padding isn’t special. Actually it compresses easily between thumb and finger so it won’t do much for your weight on your sit bones.Final analysis: Not really better than my Przewalski bib shorts, and I could buy 3 or maybe 4 of those for the same price. These are not 3 or 4 times better quality.

Avoid these bibs.
I’ve been wearing Gore bike wear for over 10 years and have enjoyed most of their products I’ve tried. However, these C5 bibs are so bad I almost wonder if they are bootleg? The material is very weak; it doesn’t have that compression feel or the more robust material of older gore bibs. The foam pad is simply chopped off creating a terrible seam. The leg grippers have a plastic-like rigid seam which feels harsh on your legs and could easily damage your skin after hours on the bike. I cannot believe Gore would even sell something like this. I’ve nearly lost my faith in buying their clothing. I may need to switch to a different brand for my future cycling kits.

Bit less than I expected for the price
Background - I'm 5'8" 147lbs. I ride 4-5k miles per year with longest ride ~65 miles.Pro's- Nice look (I really like the wide red "GORE" leg grippers although make it tough to pull on)- Built well with good stitching- Very stretchy/comfortableCon's- Almost to light-weight (material is very thin especially in the bib straps- Seat comfort - over the short haul (up to 30 miles) the comfort is pretty good. Beyond 30, not so good for meBottom Line - these bibs look and feel good but not made for the long-hauls. For the $100 price I would expect better quality seat comfort.

Not worth the $82 I paid won't buy again.
I have ridden these 3 or 4 times now I will not purchase these again. The material is way to thin the seat cushion is not very comfortable. So not with the 82 dollars I paid! There are better choices for less money. I am 6 foot 4 inches tall and weigh 230 lbs. For a size reference I ordered an XL size and is a good fit.

Great Bibs
These are the first pair of cycling bibs that I have purchased. Up until this point I've only worn cycling shorts. If you are like me and curious about bibs, then I must tell you they are worth the investment. These bibs have been a huge comfort upgrade to my cycling. These bibs are very thin and lightweight. I found the pad in these to be extremely comfortable and well made. My first ride with these was 42 miles and they performed well. I liked them so much I ordered a second pair after my first ride with them. My only concern about these bibs is that the shoulder straps seem a little thin and if anything on these were to fail I suspect it would be in that area, but only time will tell how they hold up. If you are curious sizing - I am 5'9" and 215lbs and the XL was a perfect fit for me.

Comfort and value!
These have a nut cup! Absolutely some of the most comfortable bibs i have worn, yet! Nice, firm and comfortable padding for your sit bones on longer rides and the front has a soft fabric area for your sensitive parts to reduce numbness. I have tried both the large and XL versions, when un doubt, go for the size up but these fit pretty true to size. The large had enough stretch to fit my height and have only fit better as I lose weight.

BEWARE .. GORE/AMAZON Fulfills EUROPEAN Sizes
Sizes indicated on the size chart are USA ... BUT BUYER BEWARE .. AMAZON fulfills EUR sizes. In other words, if you order large .. AMAZON will send EU LARGE which is USA MEDIUM.I am certain of this because I just ordered 3 pair large and all came in EUR Large/USA Medium and back they went.I then reordered XL and all came in EUR XL/USA Large.

Stylish with so so chamois
Bib shorts opinions are extremely subjective. I'm a firm Pearl Izumi fan for bike kits. I've worn Gore gear for running for years. A deep discounted price on these bibs got my attention and need and we're now discussing. They are made suitably for high temperature Texas riding. The leg grips are just OK and can ride up on climbs. I don't care for the chamois. It's too narrow and insufficiently padded, for my taste. It tends to embed in the crotch, which is no fun trying to recenter the thing while riding. I'm not fat, not a whiner, but these might work under a mountain bike short, which is where they've been relegated.

Super Kompression

Not as well made as I thought they would be
First off the positives, the fit was good, the size guide was accurate. The leg grippers were superb, some of the best I have come across. Now the negatives. I don't consider these shorts are made for the UK temps and weather, the lycra is very thin so would suit a hotter climate. The stitched seams all stand proud (don't lay flat). The chamois, has no support (the foam compresses to nothing at the mearest pressure), It appears that the pad is sewn into the shorts further forward than all the other bib shorts I own, so giving virtually no padding to the 'sit bones'. also the chamois is stitched into the shorts using a basic zig zag stitch (not flat locked) which leaves the raw edge of the pad to scratch and irritate your skin (very uncomfortable). Overall I don't like these shorts, so have returned them. Very dissapointed, considering they came from a reputable bike clothing firm.

Good product, comfortable, good quality and good looks
Good bib shorts. Used them in both cold and hot days, with and without a pair of shorts over them and in both road and mountain bike. I like them. For the price I think it must be one of the best.I do have a pair of Endura FS260-Pro too, equally good, with the Gore better looking though! The pad is comfortable and of a good size (for me), with a bit of extra wind protection for the “family jewels”! Compared to the FS260, the pad is a bit softer, but it was comfy for a decent 2h30 mountain biking ride in Surrey Hills with a good portion of uphill intense pedalling and sitting on the saddle. At ~173cm and 77kg with an athletic body type, I wear 30-31 waistline Levi’s jeans and S/M in tracksuits, but have rather strong quadriceps (cycling since a young age), the M is a good fit, same for the Endura products.

Good but with defect
Ideal lightweight bib shorts, very comfortable, grippy on legs and good pad comfort on long rides. Gore writing on back is falling off though- not cool. Same writing on the left leg still perfect so seems to be a manufacturing defect

Very comfortable but not all flat stitching
These are the first bib shorts I have bought, so I restricted my budget and I purchased them after reading lots of reviews online (from this manufacturer and others). The problem with anything like this is going to be how it suits you. I'm 185 cm tall and 100kg, so not lightweight and the XXL were a snug fit. I'm longer in the body for my height but I don't find the shoulder straps uncomfortable at all. The material is very thin and ideally suited to warmer conditions. The chamois has been great so far, with a longest ride of just over 80km and the incorporated Windstopper material does its job appropriately. They've washed well so far and appear to be well made. The cons: The stitching is far from flat where most panels join, as can be seen by the ridges in the image. However, I must point out that there is flat stitching around the chamois and front panel which are the key areas and this can be seen in the photo. Does this affect comfort? The answer...no. You can feel the seams across your backside as you first put them on, but during riding, there's no chaffing or discomfort at all. Finally, for the price and comfort they afford, I would recommend this product.
