TrumpeterMesserschmitt BF 109K-4 Airplane Building Kit

It is difficult to find high quality kits of the advanced versions of many WWII aircraft. However, Trumpeter has done a fine job with the last production version of Messerschmitt's iconic single-seat fighter aircraft, the Bf-109K-4. All the detail is well shown and the fit and finish of the casting is first class. If I had one criticism it is what one does not see. So much of this fine kit is inside the model that, if one does not think outside the box, it will never be shown and appreciated. To solve that dilemma I cut open part of the forward fuselage to show the well-detailed interior. This is what I did with the detailed DB605DM engine. I cut open one side of the upper cowling and using a spare piece of thin plastic as a hood prop exhibited the engine and one of the engine mounted MG151/20 20mm cannons. It resulted in a fabulous display piece which I use in my WWII Military History classes at PennState.
