Absolutely the Best Heated Bird Bath !
This is Perfect for many reasons. 1) perfect size, big enough but not too big & the Perfect Depth for your big & Small birds. 2) made of the right material so their little toes can grip the edge & not slip off 3) the edge radius is perfect for all size birds to grip 4) can leave out year around. Will not freeze & Crack like creamic & 5) works Perfectly even during -30 degree below zero temps. Ask me, we get them here in Minnesota. It gets pretty frost crystals around the edge, but water stays Liquid even in these temps. With the flip empty option, it is easy to clean with relatively soft scrub brush. Remember do not use cleaning products, for the birds & Bambi's health, just clean often. Highly Recommend

Works at 18 below!
This birdbath was easy to assemble and mount on our deck, no drilling necessary. It tips and resets easily for cleaning. (Don't overtighten mounting bolts as it causes the metal base to warp a bit making it harder to reseat.) We are in the middle of a subzero spell in Omaha, temperatures were as low as 18 below with strong winds. The water never froze, never got slushy. The rim had ice buildup but it didn't hinder bird or squirrel traffic. (Photo shows heaviest accumulation, easily removed by pouring warm water on it ) Snowbirds, sparrows, finches, jays, cardinals, every bird in our area has used it. It is larger than our last one, we've seen as many as 6 sparrows splashing in it at the same time. It passed the cold test, excellent product!

You Will Need to Modify or Fiddle to Secure This!
TL;DR: Good bath, needs modification to secure to railing.Overall, I really like the bird bath. The birds in my yard do not care about this or use it, but once the snow melts, I'll put it elsewhere and see if they start using it.I followed the install instructions and they were clear, but useless. I have my wooden railing and the friction grip would not have held the bath on in a mild wind. The clip doesn't clip because the bracket lays flush to the railing, so the bottom of the bird bath hits the wood before the clip can clip in. Prepare to shim it a bit so the bottom of the bath doesn't hit the railing. There is a convenient hold in the bracket so I drove a screw through that and that's holding the bath to the railing. The fastening system they provide is wobbly at best. Tipping the bath to clean it will make the whole thing come loose and tumble over the railing, so be careful when cleaning it. They should also include the waterproof cover for the extension cord. You'll need one since the cord on the bath is super short. It is keeping the water melted in the bath and it's been bitterly cold up here in northern MN. The bath bowl itself seems sturdy but the bracket is rubbish. Come spring time, I'm going to fabricate my own bracket and toss this one.

So easy to keep clean!
I highly recommend this birdbath! I bought this birdbath at least 20 years ago. It stayed on my deck on Cape Cod winter and summer, through blizzards and hurricanes. I took it to the mountains of Georgia and it went through Georgia summer sun and winter freezes (yup, Georgia's Appalachian range gets below freezing in winter!) for 10 years. Bluebirds, sparrows, finches, cardinals, jays, robins, woodpeckers, and more drank and bathed in it until my husband tried to tip it to dump and clean it recently. It was frozen to the deck and instead of letting it thaw or pouring water on it to thaw it he wrenched it until he bent the metal mount. The old bath still works fine, I just can't mount it on the deck railing. I'll use it on the floor of my front deck or in the garden so the birds will have another source of fresh, unfrozen water year round.

Birds love it
I have 3! Live in Iowa...bone-chilling cold, but birds flock to the bath all winter long. So important birds get water in the winter...you can do that with this product.

Very poorly designed hinge and attachment bracket
I have been a Tool & Die Journeyman for 40 years manufacturing precision fixtures, jigs, dies and plastic injection molds. This bird bath's hinge and attachment points need a total redesign so the bird bath can be made level, the latch will positively hook and stay closed. I had to drill a hole thru the steel latch and into the wood post and insert a slip fit nail to keep the latch from popping open and then the bird bath would not be level. After installing as per instructions, the bird bath and brackets were so wobbly the bird bath would move a half inch up and down and side to side. I wanted to return this, but my wife wanted it and asked me to make it work. I ended up building a wood platform for it to set on that allowed the bird bath to latch ( I had to add a hole and slip fit nail to keep latch in place) and pivot to dump the water. The bird bath is rock solid and level after all this work. This should be designed and manufactured by the company that produces this product.

Seems to work.
I live in Ontario Canada where it gets pretty cold. I have only had this birdbath for one week so these comments apply to temperatures of about -5. I simply placed the birdbath on the pedestal of my other birdbath and plugged it in. I followed the advice of another review and placed a cover over the extension cord and the birdbath cord. I put a big rock in It so it would not blow away and birds would have a perch. I have not seen any birds using it but the water has remained liquid and I have not had to top it up. So far I am happy with it. Can’t wait for the birds to come!
