Trixie Pickle Art Avenger

Bought for my nine year old whose experience of art at school had made them decide they didn't like it because they weren't as good at drawing as some of their classmates. This book helped them realise that there are lots of different types of art and how it can convey messages about the world. What's really impressive is that this is done through the very funny and engaging story of Trixie Pickle. My daughter read it from cover to cover on the day she got it and is very excited for the next installment.

Trixie Pickle was super fun, full of awesome illustrations, cool educational art stuff and the main character was inspiring sticking up for her class mates and standing up for what she believed in. We all should be a bit more like Trixie! Loved this book. Chapeau Olaf.

I bought this for my nine year old, so here’s her review….“It is thoroughly thrilling and it keeps you guessing what will happen next. It is really funny and it has lots of fact files for artists and this is reflected in the story. Trixie Pickle is really good and very addictive. I think Olaf Falafel is a very good writer and I like the cheeky characters, the drawings are great and it reminds me a bit of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. My 8 year old daughter absolutely loved this book! It had really inspired her art too.

My 10-year old grandson has always loved Olaf Falafel's books, starting with the 'Old MacDonald Heard a Parp' series a few years ago and now Trixie Pickle! It's funny and silly and even sneakily educational about art with feel-good messages about bullying. There's a Trixie sequel out now so looks like I'll have to get him that one, too.
