Has flaws but solidly built
This seems to take forever to dry anything, but since this is the first dehydrator I have ever used, I'm unsure what to expect. The heater does not tightly maintain the set temp. Directions are very poorly written and hard to follow; it took me some time to figure out how to use the not-very-intuitive control panel. The unit is heavy and takes up a lot of space in a small kitchen. Contrary to one of the FAQ answers, the stainless steel trays are NOT easy to clean, especially if you've dried mango slices (takes several days) or kale chips coated with sticky stuff; soaking the trays is the only way to clean them, and the tray size is so large that a small sink will not allow you to submerge them. Food bits that fall through the 1/4" screen cannot be simply swept out because the front lip blocks that, so to clean the inside bottom you have to wipe them up. Despite the several irritating features, I found the unit to be solidly built and of good quality materials, and the dealer was responsive to my complaints. I hope that my feedback eventually improves the design.
