There is a reason it is always shown being used in the pool. This device is not designed for lake or ocean use as it is deathly allergic to sand which limits the potential usability.We have used it in the lake around 5 times and every time the whole board needs to be disassembled and internal components need to be washed with a hose and a brush (about 30min ordeal if you have all the necessary tools) Most buttons and switches stop working due to send blockage. Main power button stops working, the battery release button gets stuck and control buttons get stuck as well.Now after fifth cleaning/disassembly some screws are starting to get stripped.The board is slow. I would understand if the fast speed was the lowest setting and than you had turbo that was at least 2x - 3X as fast perhaps kids would have a lasting fun.We had a bday party (4-7year olds) and used two of these kick-boards. Kids stoped playing with them after about half hour as novelty wore off. Common complaint was that it was just too slow to be exciting.They look great, they seem to be well built just not for use outside of the pool. Perhaps with some revisions to the design so it can work in a lake or ocean where sand is NOT present, larger battery and stronger motor this could truly be an amazing device. As is it has very limited usability and is just too slow to be exciting long term.
