Earthworks Health Feed Grade Psyllium Husk Powder 5lb Bag

I’ve purchased this psyllium for years. It’s always been outstanding. I’ve never had any problems with it. It has been a great diet supplement for me - smooth and easy poops and great results from colonoscopy doc - he said: “See you again in ten years”.

I have purchased from Earthworks multiple times. Products are excellent and their speed to shipment is fantastic.

Very good product. It is silky smooth. I have used GNC colon pure for about 15 years and then switched to Now for the last 3 years. This is my first order from this company. The packaging is mom and pop style but the product is excellent. I hope their supplier is consistent for my next order. With other suppliers you will get either gritty or too powdery that doesn’t mix well. I use to get the NOW powder and regular husk and mix them to get a better consistency. When this arrived it was powder looking so I was a little worried it wouldn’t mix well, but it did mix very well. It turned out to be an excellent silky smooth drink. I don’t do anything fancy. Just add water and mix it really well and chug away before it gets too thick.

Works better than Anthony’s brand and a better price

I take psyllium twice daily and have been doing so for many years. I've been using the popular brand,(starts with an "M").I was hesitant after reading the reviews, but the cost savings for me was well worth it.It doesn't mix as quickly as the "other brand," but a bit more stirring and it was just fine. Not as fine a grind as the other one, and there is no flavoring or sweetener at all.Big deal! I can get past the bland taste. This is close to half the price of the other one. For me, the difference in taste and stirring time was easy to overlook. Just drink it quickly after stirring or it will get goopy, just like the other one does.

It works well. I think I personally prefer whole husks but this is still effective for sure. Definitely use with a blender bottle or something. Does what it is supposed to do and that's what matters.

Read the label. This is a feed grade, not food grade, product. I called their customer service. They said it was just the same, but there's a reason the FDA approves food for human consumption. It's all about testing and safety guarantees. I use this stuff for over a year and it works great, but I can't get over the fact that it's made for horses. Luckily, we happen to have horses!

I have used this psyllium husk powder for more than 18 months and wanted to provide a more detailed review since I found only 5 star ratings for the 5lb package. After I tried the powder I found a couple more revealing (detailed)reviews for the 10lb quantity on Amazon.Pro’s:1) Works as good or better than Metamucil.2) Half the cost of Metamucil.Con’s:1) Texture more gritty than Metamucil.2) Taste is rather bland, Tastes like wood(fine saw dust)3) Mixing with a spoon is very difficult even when mixing a heaping teaspoon in a cup of water. I have found that using a metal whisk is the only method(by hand) one can quickly mix psyllium power/water into a non-lumpy solution. I prefer mixing 1 heaping teaspoon of powder in only 4 ounces of water since it is quicker to swallow. Since this is pure psyllium husk powder, its consistency is like apple sauce when mixed thoroughly and will gel even more solidly if not consumed immediately. I wish it was as finely ground as Metamucil but it is coarser.4) Since this is less palatable than Metamucil, I decided after my first month of usage to mix 4:1 with Costco’s Sugarless Natural Psyllium Fiber powder mix to give it a tad bit of flavor and a slightly smoother texture. I now buy the 10lb bags and have have used this 4:1 mixing method for more than 15lbs of daily fiber. I saved 4 empty containers of Metamucil and additional containers of Costco psyllium powder which help me facilitate this mixing method. I consume 1 heaping teaspoon after my morning meal and one heaping teaspoon before bedtime. I am a 225 lbs man.
