This product is great for watering slowly
This product is great for watering slowly, over time. The only problem is the little pinhole that controls the release of water: if it is occuded (like by a piece of dirt), water release is slow. If it is open, water release is faster. I would suggest "drilling the hole" for the spike first, then clean the pinhole, and add water. Your results will be much more satisfactory. However, I bought this product hoping that it would help me water the plant over a nine day vacation, and I cannot say it will do this. Probably what I will do is water the plant thoroughly, put it in a plastic bag, add a spike full of water, seal the plastic bag, place it in the shade, and hope for the best. I am very grateful to the sellers, as they have answered my questions, and been very helpful. Thank you!

Cute design and works well
I bought three for a few of my potted plants. I was surprised to find that they come with water beads that help save water and so far (7 days later) my plants seem happy.

So far nothing
Placed them out in the Arizona sun. There is a pin price hole on side, used wine bottle, soil appears dried out. Been about a week and there is little to no difference in the water level in the wine bottle. Will try drilling more holes. I will need more then four wine bottle, one for each plant if gone a week. Don't think this will be the answer, maybe for a house plant after adding holes, maybe not.Nope. Drilled more holes, then water poured out when soil was wet. Not the answer for me, gave it a month. Trying the terracotta ones next.

Thanks
I like these waterers. I have different versions, but these slide into the packed soil much easier. Works well and has kept my houseplants happy and healthy.

These are useless for a small pot but probably fine for outdoor use. I bought this for a potted Basil plant while i was gong on vacation. Without the included gel, it waters too fast. With the included gel, it dispenses to slow. Description on item is not very accurate. I can't recommend this item.

Good idea for potted plants!
I use them for big plants (12-16" pots) and they work well. The water saving granules are good for smaller pots, i think. I found the bottles from wight wine are easier to monitor. Depending on the plant, it lasts minimum 3 days. (in San Francisco area).

Doesn't work :(
These don't work as advertised. They don't water your plant over time. All of the water you put in the wine bottle drains into your plant in minutes. There's no slow, steady drip. My poor plant was flooded. Junk product.

Uses way too much water
