The Invisible Man [DVD] (English audio. English subtitles)

This was so NOT what I was expecting. Classic Invisible Man plot stood on its head. well worth watching.

It's ok,

All classic stories/films are remade because they are ultimately great metaphors for social conditions/systems. This one is perfect - the gaslighting of endemic white male systems and how they hide the abuse they meet out against women and people of colour - how difficult it is to prove, almost 'invisible' but in plain sight. An interpretation of H.G.Wells classic for the current socio-political times. Bravo.

The Invisible Man, a novel by H. G. Wells published in 1897 has been taken countless times to the screen. The best version still is the magnificent one directed by James Whale in 1933 with Claude Rains (the unforgettable Captain Renaud of "Casablanca") as the main character. The last version keeps from the novel the mad scientist main role, but quickly leaves the laboratory environments and instead focus on the couple problems, with an interesting link to domestic violence - even if the film perhaps sometimes resembles a bit too much of Julia Robert's "Sleeping with the Enemy".This is a good movie, quite entertaining, frightening and very good to see. The special effects of the invisibility condition are remarkable, but put to the service of the story, not the other way around, like the silly version Paul Verhoeven filmed with Kevin Bacon in 2000. The almost constant tension is well filmed, as is the violence. The plot has a few very ingenious twists, specially the entrepreneur's brother (alleged?) kidnap bit.Lastly, the actress Elisabeth Moss, who is in every single scene of the movie, carries the function very well; her gradual descent into despair, with a tad of madness, is superb.

This is one of those films where you should NEVER listen to critics. I don't want to give any spoilers away, but it's the best horror film I've seen for a long time and I've seen many which are as lousy as the actors in them. Elisabeth Moss is a wonderful actress and her fear is conveyed superbly to the viewer who is literally trying to stop themselves from a full blown panic attack in virtually every scene. The initial scene makes you think it's Sleeping With The Enemy revisited before it departs into something altogether different. An interesting fact is that Armie Hammer was scheduled to play the psychopathic, controlling husband, but Whannell cast someone altogether unknown and I salute him for that and not selling out. Frankly, I couldn't picture Hammer in this role as he's probably too nice. Well done to everyone involved for making this film.

La paciencia tiene su recompensa!Durante meses estuve en espera de que bajara el precio, ya que pagar más de 900 pesos me parecía excesivamente cara, aún sin ser una collectors edition, digibook o una edición que justificara ese costo... hace un par de meses llegó a estar en 580 pero aún así me resistí a comprarla, afortunadamente ahora la encontré a 279, un precio accesible y razonable.De la película, el aspecto más deslumbrante de The Invisible Man son los largos períodos de silencio donde la gramática visual obliga a los espectadores a analizar realmente lo que está sucediendo en todo el entorno de la protagonista, la tensión nunca cede y estarás al borde del asiento en cada fotograma de la película.sin duda muy recomendable.Contiene subs y doblaje al español latino.

Excelente película, sin duda vale la pena pagar el precio un poco elevado de Amazon.Elisabeth Moss demuestra su talento una vez más ahora en esta película llena de terror innovador, una historia que te mantiene al borde del asiento y fácilmente la mejor película hasta ahorita del 2020.Llegó muy rápido, la pedí un Jueves y para el Domingo ya estaba en mi casa, y eso que era enviada de Amazon USA, y sin ninguna marca o rasguño y con slipcover.Excelente servicio de Amazon, como siempre.

Movie arrived with damaged dirty slipcover... But the sealed blu ray was fine. Why bother with the slipcover at all.... Sticker residue and damage.The disks and blu ray case itself are perfect.
