I love this gouache
Miya is my favorite brand of jelly gouache. The price is just so good as well, I can't it cheaper than this. It's just so good for student grade gouache. Opaque, bright and such beautiful colors. So many colors as well, I am spoiled for choice with this set. It dries well, rewets well and lasts so long in the case. I do open it every few months to mist it, if I haven't used it. Works well thick but can also be watered down a ton as well. Always fun to use this gouache. It also lasts so long, I'm sure by the time I fill up my art book, I'll not have put a dent into the paints.

Strange smell
I really like these guache paints. The colors are fantastic. Most of them weren't too hard to ooen, but be prepared to get your fingers covered in paint. Some of the paints had separated. This is an issue I always have with guache jelly cups, but I haven't seen mentioned before. Maybe it's because I've always ordered in the winter and the subzero temperatures has something to do with it? Or maybe I'm just unlucky? In any case, I just stir each cup really well with a toothpick and it's good to go. I don't really care for the foam inside the cover of this box. Paint gets stuck to the inside and if you don't line the lid up perfectly when putting it back on then the colors start to get mixed. So I washed all the paint off and started to cover the whole box with press and seal plastic wrap like I have for my other boxes. It works much better. My biggest problem with these paints us they have a somewhat unpleasant odor that my other guache jelly cup paints don't have. Some colors are much worse than others, but all of them have the distinct odor. I don't care for it and it would keep me from getting these again since there are so many other options.

paint is great, still the "pull top to remove completely" jelly cup lids...
I've tried a few jelly cup set-ups before but I like this one because of the huge range of colors and the case with the extra padding up top to create a more durable seal. The paint itself is nice. It's a student/studio quality gouache- opaque and creamy and covers well, but not quite the ultra rich, ultra opaque pigment-packed powerhouse of Holbein or Turner. But it's very nice to work with, the colors are beautiful and vibrant, there are more than enough colors that you don't need to worry about mixing ones if you don't want to (that's big for me), and the set is super easy to use and just beautiful to look at. I love this gouache.I'll be honest- the one thing I hate about jelly cups is the design of the lid of the cup- why can't they give us some sort of top that reseals and/or snaps back shut to keep the paint from drying out? I know these paints rewet easily enough, and you can just peel off a tiny corner and see it back up, etc. (super fussy) but I don't want to have to mix in water and bestir paint every time I pull it out or have to stop painting to carefully unseal and reseal my paints.. So while I appreciate the updated cover, I hope the next iteration of these paints is with improved, re-usable lids for the individual containers- if the paints had that, they wouldn't need the giant, fancy, flat briefcase style storage.Love the paint, hope for a slightly better lid in the future.

Good watercolor paint set
This product comes in a durable case with a double handle. The lid has a latch on each side to help secure the cover in place. Three of the sides snap into place with ease. One side is a bit trickier each time it is opened and closed. the handles move with ease, but are securely attached. Once all 4 sides are latched on, then the cover stays on securely. There is a thick foam piece on the inside of the cover which helps keep the paints in place and the individual peel back tops for each color in place once opened. There is a large variety of colors in this set. The paint is rather thick for a water color, but I was able to easily scoop out a small amount onto a pallet. The paint definitely needed to be mixed with water to get the water color paint consistency. Once the paint is thinned a bit, then it applies to the intended surface with ease. It was used to paint wood projects and did a great job covering the area with very little touch up required for complete coverage. The colors are striking and really make the pyrography art pop on the wood. I would recommend this paint for artists of all levels.

Great gouache in a great container
This gouache paint comes in so many gorgeous colors, housed in an awesome heavy plastic container/ carrying case .These are heavy paints, being part like acrylics and part like watercolor. They give a nice sheerness to my work, but I have to work quicker than I do when using plain acrylics. I think beginners or any painter would enjoy this gift set.I'd definitely buy these again.Happy 🎨 arting, all!

Great Set of Gouache Paints
I am really enjoying painting with these MIYA gouache paints. Love the selection of colors. I have never worked with gouache before so I bought an art book on how to get started with this medium. For me it produces a slightly different effect that watercolors and can be used with or without water. Fun to work with and I love the quality of this paint. All set in a large slightly heavy box. Definitely a learning experience.
