Anatomically Incorrect
National Geographic let us down on this one. Chimpanzees are apes, hence they do not have a tail. This chimpanzee in our kit has a tail. Talk about the confusion this created for our toddler. Everyday has been a struggle trying to convince her that chimpanzees do not have tails and are apes. We are terrified to take her to the zoo because this will just throw her into a downward spiral.

Very cute and cuddly!
Granddaughter will love this! A little tricky to get the batteries in. But quality seems very good!

Broke after less than a month
My 2-year-old *loved* this item. From the moment she opened it, it was the first thing she wanted to play with every morning and the last stuffed animal "friend" she wanted to hug every night. And then one morning she squeezed the chimp's hand, which is supposed to make a chimp sound, and... nothing. Her new friend had stopped talking to her. She was sad. New batteries did not fix the problem. Now she was distressed. This item is supposed to make three sounds--one when you squeeze the paw, one when you push the chest, and one when you push the mouth. After less than a month of use, only the mouth sound works. I reached out to National Geographic, where customer service sent me to ShopDisney, where customer service couldn't help me because I ordered through Amazon and sent me to a different number, where they also couldn't help me, and so on. In sum, my version of this product was defective and if you order through Amazon and get a defective one you will have no means through which to get a replacement. And that's to say nothing of the Distraught Toddler.
