Financial Literacy for Managers: Finance and Accounting for Better Decision-Making (Wharton Executive Essentials)

Great for those with little to no accounting experience
I’m an MBA grad. Bought this book for my wife who is not a business major and needed a crash course on accounting for a certificate in management through her employer. This book was amazing! This would have made undergrad accounting courses that much easier. Great gift for high school grads or pre-business students. If you have a BS in business this book is a repeat of your financial and managerial accounting courses in undergrad. I don’t think you’ll learn something new from it.

Excellent primer for non-financial managers looking to get a handle ...
Excellent primer for non-financial managers looking to get a handle on understanding financial information, which information is relevent in what arenas, and how to best leverage the information to make informed business decisions. The book does a good job of explaining the difference between various financial statments, how they relate to one another, and why it matters. If you're a new manager who suddenly confronted with budgeting decisions or responsible for running a P&L, this book is a great place to start your education.

helpful in one area, but lacking in another one.
This is helpful for anyone looking to understand financial reports and statements, like a company's earnings report and to learn the jargon of financial reporting, but never took a basic business class. The title is slightly misleading, as I was disappointed that this had less to do with business budgeting - a key focus of training for managers who have yet to be handed a budget and need insight into what the process is like and the effects certain decisions could have on a business. So while clearly written, well structured, and informative in regards to the basics of reading a financial report, just make note that this doesn't encompass ALL of 'financial literacy', but rather just one (albeit a crucial one) cornerstone of the topic.

bedtime reading
This is very enjoyable reading. I don't know how the author made finance easy to digest but he did. A balance sheet now makes sense to me.

Great summary for Non-Financials
This small book is very suitable for all executives needing a substantial overview about financial and management accounting. The author explains in a very comprehensive way fundamentals such as the elements of a financial report, the structure of a balance sheets, financial ratios and some important tools for cost calculation. Very useful (and very readable even for non-native English reader).
