Every time you power this off, it resets the switch and you need to press the button to start it again. I tried using it on a wall outlet in my sewing room (I have lots of vintage machines with sketchy wiring). I had a power strip plugged into it, and with the not infrequent power blips I was always crawling under the table to reset the breaker. I plugged it into the power strip and plug only the sewing machine of the day into it, and it works okay. It's still annoying to have to use the button to start it, though, because I turn the strip off every time I'm done sewing.

Would give this five stars because it is a good product, but did not do the auto restart and almost killed my 20 yellow cichlids (fish) as it is labeled and purchased as the auto reset one, that is a problem. Buyer beware.

I wanted to add christmas lights outside but have no receptacles available. I added a screw in adapter to a light socket, but wanted to add GFCI protection to the circuit since I expected the lights and cords to get damp and the circuit is ungrounded. This worked perfectly - it automatically resets when you power it on, so every time I turn the switch on the GFCI resets. I tested it with a circuit tester and the GFCI tripped properly.

Whenever you are using a power tool or appliance where water may be involved or nearby and IF you dont have a GFI outlet nearby, THIS little godsend device COULD very well be a/your lifesaver! I recently was cutting into my basement concrete floor to install a sump pump basin and utilized my circular saw (I realize that this is NOT the intended use for this tool)......and a concrete/masonary circular blade that needed copious amounts of water as it was cutting (as per its instructions and a few YT videos) and I was glad to have this inserted into my outlet so as not to "potentially subject myself to electric shock orThis works like a charm AND, after reading and seeing many such installs such as the one I just did THIS device will save me the trouble of "hard wiring a GFI nearby to the sump pump as per my local code requirement!Thus, it has served me for two purposes AND for the price paid is very INEXPENSIVE considering its almost endless uses IF (and why shouldn't you be) are concerned with basic safety precaution!Hey folks, I spend a small fortune in time, energy, and moola on stuff that I buy and use here on amamzon so, IF this review was HELPFUL...well, you know what to do! I discovered this unit will switch off if there is a power failure. Requires manually pushing the red button to reset it after the power failure.(Whereas, my GFCI wall outlets are still on after a power failure.)

I needed a special plug and instead of hiring an electrician to put one in, this does exactly the same thing!!! So happy to have saved $$$

We were using a small space heater in our garage. We were using an extension cord but wanted extra safety it the heater failed. Also, if some part of the connections came apart or got broken, we wanted protection from a short. The unit was really easy to use, and the yellow color is very handy if you're working in a confined area where light is not always great. Good product.
