Let your creativity flow.
Purchased five of these. One for each one of my granddaughters. They will receive them for Christmas and I'm sure that they will enjoy them. The sound is soothing and they are fun to play with. But, surprisingly, they also provide an additional benefit. We lost my father earlier this year and since then my mother has been very depressed and broken hearted. She used to play the piano years ago so I decided that perhaps one of these would kind of take her mind off of the sadness of the past summer even for just a few minutes. She loves it! She finds it soothing, calming and she enjoys trying to play old tunes she once knew. She informed me that she is trying to teach herself the song "You are my sunshine." so she can play it for my father.

Easy to play, soothing sound, medium quality
THE START- This is a fun little, different instrumentTHE GOOD- The sound is soothing!- Really not hard to learn how to play, especially if there is any background in music theory- Comes with a little book to jump start on some songs and music theory behind the instrumentTHE BAD- The size was a little bigger than expecting, so be sure to look at the dimensions carefully- One of the notes was out of tune when I received it, so I had to adjust it quick. Not terribly hard, just had to push the bar in a little bit.- The higher notes really don't resonate well...they sort of just "click" and dull out quickly. So expect to stick to the middle, lower, more tonal notesTHE END- With my understanding of music, it is a fun toy to add to the collection. Don't expect the greatest thing in the world,. but don't expect the worst!

Bought as a fidget toy during homeschool.
We have 6 kids who all love fidget toys. I have many musical instruments (guitars, handpan, cajon, ocarina and more) but I wanted something that sounded good no matter what you did. This was perfect! I did not want something super loud or big. Something I could put in a backpack on trips or have out even as a decoration. No matter what you played it sounded beautiful! My 7 year old all the way up to me fell in love with it instantly! Since they are homeschooled and get stressed out at times they tend to fidget and use toys to take a short break. I was irritated by the spinning, zipping and clicking sounds from all those toys LOL.Now they take turns while learning and today it felt like being homeschooled at the spa 😂Like I said no matter what you hit it all sounded good together. My 7yr old even rote a song using the numbers on the front using math... Go figure!I'm tempted to buy another one just for me. Like I said it is not very loud but is not super quiet either. You could still hear it over them talking. It's easy to hold even for a child and yes my husband with his big hands too! It's beautiful and I am thinking to put it on a plate stand on the side table which will be a great conversation starter for when company comes (after covid of course). Seriously though the best part is you don't need to know how to play anything to use it. Just tap away at any of the keys or combination of the keys and enjoy the music you make!It does come with a book btw to teach you a simple song and you can look up other music to play online as it uses a standard C scale. I have not tried the tuning app yet though as it came in tune.I am so glad my mom suggested this, THANKS MOM!!!

Excellent quality and tone for the money
Bought this for a friend and the quality and tone is excellent - way better than I expected. He's had a blast learning different songs (tip: much of the music from the Avatar: The Last Airbender series is on a kalimba). Very happy with the product.

Low resonance, small keys, but convenient
The case is nice, there's some stuff in it for beginners, and includes a tuning hammer. But the actual kalimba is a little under par even for other kalimbas in this price range, just looking at what other people are using in Youtube videos. The higher keys have a really low resonance, so playing anything over the first 10 keys just doesn't sound right; might as well be a 10-key kalimba.I'd say it's good for learning, but the keys are close together, some at angles that almost overlap, so it's really easy to hit the wrong ones. You could probably do better, but this is also good enough. But its now got me wanting to try different kalimbas, as pretty much everyone who plays seems to have better ones.

Great musical addition
Got this for my kids but we ended up using it as well. My 11 year old likes that it is fun.He says "It can be hard to learn the songs but once you learn them, it's easy to play."But it didn't take him long to learn several songs and play the keys by memory. The set up came with a book that had certain apps they recommended for tuning your instrument which was cool.As a parent with kids learning new instruments, this is definitely a good one to have because the sound the keys in practice mode isn't painful to the ears and when they actually learn songs, it's quite enjoyable. My husband and I learned some songs too. The sound can be very soothing. We found kalimba tutorials on YouTube & even some keyboard tutorials were also useful. We got this as a Christmas gift for the kids. We initially wanted to get them a keyboard but they were out of our price range.I'm very happy with this purchase

Beautiful and comfortable. I'm happy.
I received my Kalimba 2 days ago, I really love it so far. It looks nice, is lightweight, easy to hold, and sounds pretty. I am a complete beginner so I don't already know how to play, but this is a comfortable brand and seems like an easy to learn instrument (YouTube videos are helpful). I like the case it feels like it will protect it well, only thing that bothers me is the spot where the tuning hammer is, it kind of slides when I am putting the Kalimba back int it and it gets in the way and I'm afraid it might scrape the back of the kalimba.I bought the one with hand grooves but I couldn't compare to any other since this is my first Kalimba.Anyway I'm really happy with my purchase and excited to learn.

First Timer - Impressed so far
I have no experience of this whatsoever - I bought it really as a fidget plaything. Really surprised. Seems excellent quality. I liked just thumbing keys (pleasant sound). I have some music knowledge and was able to play 'doe a deer' fairly easily. Not much success with hammer other than strumming it along making swooshing sound - nice. That's my lot so far - don't know anything about tuning or other technical stuff.I hope to leave it lying around at Xmas time when grandchildren and big kids are around - I am sure they will all want to have a go as everybody will be able to do something from 3-66 years old.VERY PLEASED

Nicely made
Anything to keep the brain working. Having a go at making basic music, decided to buy this as an experiment. Very nicely made, good sound quality, should be easy to play when I get to grips with the method. Lots on YouTube to teach me, and should be enjoyable, unless I become a Les Dawson of the Kalimba! That should be fun. Recommend

quality
I was looking for a slightly different, not too expensive gift that wouldn't be thrown in a drawer. Presentation is always a good selling point to me and the packaging (having a case and a travel pouch) added to the gift. The quality and smoothness of the wood was excellent and wether you want to use the book to learn to play the thumb piano or just like the relaxing sound of tinkling the keys this is a fantastic unique gift. This will certainly be my go to Christmas gift for friends
