Cool Nights Tropical Hawaiian Batik Cotton Shirt

Really liked the design of these shirts. Decided to buy two, a Green River and the Black with palm motif. These are hand stamped patterns, so no two are alike. The "Bass Fish" pattern (Green River) is almost indistinguishable, another plus in my mind. I'm not a fisherman, but I like marine life art!As an established artist I was really searching for unique designs that were not over the top. Artistic but still normal so people don't stare at you and wonder what the heck you are wearing or what country you might be from.Other reviewers have commented that they needed to order the next size up, one size larger than their regular size. This may have been a problem when these first came out, so you might want to sort your reviews by "most recent first". Johari West seems to have corrected this.As soon as they arrived I washed the Black one first, in cold water, then dried on air fluff. After drying it was a bit large, mostly in the underarms. I have large muscular arms so this is only a minor issue.Next I washed the Green River in warm water (Johari does not recommend this). I ran it through two warm water / cold rinse wash cycles. Then dried it on low heat setting (recommended). Result: I was very surprised that the arms shrunk slightly, but the shirt width stayed almost exactly the same, even used a tape measure to check. Shrinkage less than 1/2". So basically the same torso/ chest/belt line width top to bottom as it came out of the package. Nearly a perfect fit for me. I like a bit of extra room in a summer shirt, my summer home in coastal southeast region of the USA is hoy and humid from June -September.IMPORTANT NOTE: The warm water wash did soften the fabric and I don't see any fading of colors. Washed both shirts separately with a white t-shirt just to see if any of the ink came off. Nope!Bottom line is I think these are perfect. Knock it outa da park Grand Slam! (Yesterday was the 2016 Home Run Derby, pardon the pun!). A 100% cotton shirt that has minimal shrinkage, retains color, needs only a touch up of ironing if at all, is the perfect shirt in my opinion. Very impressed and I'll be ordering more! I have almost the entire line of Johari West shirts for men. The only shirts that cause strangers to come up to me and compliment the shirt. I have the Indonesian line that is unique in the world. It’s not Hawaiian, it’s not Polynesian—it’s Indonesian!! I love the shirts also because they are comfortable and have a good sized breast pocket. Can’t say enough about this company.

I love this shirt. It fits me well and looks great. I have received several compliments when I wore it to happy hours. Quality made.

Would of given it a 5 , but the shirt had a 4 inch tear down one side.

This coronavirus pandemic has made us all more sedentary as we quarantine and hide inside, and some of us have found solace in consuming more food. AND, SO I've had to get bigger clothes that look better - for when I go toonly the grocery store. I've been buying and wearing Johari West shirts for the last ten years - from size XL to now 3XL. Oy. They look great in any size and on any body. The designs are really neat to look at but also not too bold but give you some personality in your clothing. IF you are wanting to not follow directions and want to wash and then machine dry these, buy a size larger, as you will shrink them in the drier. No matter what, I liked these so much that I bought seven new shirts and they look and feel great! No matter what, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND these Johari West shirts! Add some color and style to your casual wardrobe as you sit in on boring Zoom calls!

I ordered the Cool Nights 4xl Lime, and I could not be happier! The shirt arrived today, it fits my big ol' belly, broad chest, wide shoulders, and long torso to a T! As bright as the picture, a little heavier on the weight than expected, but so breathable you would never notice! This is a seriously great quality item, not some super thin slick feeling knockoff. The quality from Johari West is top notch, I could not possibly be happier. Buttoned or unbuttoned I have plenty of room to move without binding up. I normally go 3xl on shirts, but went 4xl because it was 100% cotton. Didn't shrink on the first wash, but just in case! Buy 'em. You can't beat 'em. I wasn't paid for this review, I just love the product I paid for! As a big man with a long torso this was an absolute spot on hit!

XLT three star because the fabric wrinkles very easy. If you get this shirt your going to using an iron. For the price I'd think it should be wrinkle free. Second is the neck size is way to small for a shirt this size. No way can you button up. This is less of an issue but I found it to be odd...
