Q: What's the easiest way to put this up with one person. Seems like is go crazy with 4x4 sliding through the top?

My husband and I struggled to assemble this kit. We had to rent a material lift from the local tool rental place and even then it was very difficult. Additionally, we've already had a screw fail due to rust. I cannot recommend keeping this kit if you can return it.

Q: Can a 4" x4" post go thru the top of the 3way bracket? Say my post is 8' but I want to attach the 3way bracket at 6' and have 2' sticking out the top.

Yes, the 4"x4" should slide through the bracket and allow you to attach it at the 6' height.

Q: Does the 4x4 need to be shaved or shimmed to fit snug in the bracket? I am building a 10lx12wx9 h pergola.

The 4x4's we bought fit fine without adjustments.
