a great message
This book is great for delivering the message that no matter how different you are you can find your place in the world. My students loved it! (Elementary School Counselor)

Sweet message for children of multi-ethnicities
X-techie’s Daughter: My friend shared this book with me and I immediately picked out the author’s subtle message (much to my friend’s open-mouthed surprise as she’d missed this message entirely and thought of me only because I often use a spork ( :D)) regarding a child of mixed-race background looking for self-identity. The story resonates with me as a biracial person. I ended up buying a copy for my cousin’s young daughters who, like me, are biracial as there are so few books out there in which children of multi-ethnic backgrounds can find themselves represented.

Great way to talk to kids about feeling different...
This book has been a great treat for our 3-year-old and even has relevance for our 11-year-old, as it addresses the question, Who am I and why do I sometimes feel so out of place? Our girls get a kick out of the fact that the main character is a spork, who struggles to find himself, a topic that we, as parents, can easily segue into, both during and after our reading sessions. Highly recommend this purchase!(Other books that we purchased that might be of interest include: What Do You Do With an Idea, The Most Magnificent Thing, and Rosie Revere, Engineer.)

Awesome
I bought this for a storybook themed baby shower I co hosted. We had books to match each part of the shower, this went next to the silverware. I had never read this book but when I received it i was very impressed! The spork feels bad because everyone makes fun of him because he is different, not a spoon, not a fork. The other silverware talk about how they are so much better and what makes them better then the little spork. Eventually the spork learns that it ok to be yourself and be different. It's a great book for teachers and parents alike.

Spork
This is a creative and cute book. My preschool class enjoyed hearing how the spork got added to the table. The illustrations are fun as well.

Wonderful message
A charming book celebrating who were are. Even though we are different from what some might call the “norm” we each are special in our own unique way. I bought this book for my grandchildren. I loved the message!

Not as good as I was hoping
Got this as it was very highly reviewed and I liked the concept of being different / finding your own way to be, however my kid found the illustration of the baby a bit scary / offputting and I have to agree. Nice idea but the execution feels a bit off.

Brilliant Book!
This was recommended by a friend and it is lovely story about the joy of being oneself and not trying too hard to conform.

A great story but…
I love the book and it isn’t easy to find. It is my first “used-like ew”. I am not super happy it has many Hamilton Public Library STAMPS and barcoding. So much in fact I had to removed the cover that lies over the actual book. It is also co fusing for the students in my class as they keep trying to return this book to the school library.
