Q: I put my husband on a diet. Can i use this to dispense small portions of cereal for his breakfast?

The dispenser has a large enough opening to allow most normal cereals through except Wheaties would be too large. I'm thinking 3-4 portions every couple hours will kick that diet off into high gear! Best of luck, anon.

Q: Is the schedule set up through an app?

Nope, all of the programming is done on the device itself. It's very simple to program though. Make sure you install the 3 D cell batteries so that if you have a power outage you won't need to reprogram the current time (the schedule program stays in memory during power outrages but the time will not without the batteries).

Q: what size box this is shipped in? Weird question but I live on a remote island and pay per cubic foot even if its empty space

I purchased two. One for food, one for treats. The boxes were pretty compact and the two fit into another box tightly. That being said, not sure how one would be packaged.
