Works great, replaced old derailleur on 7 sprocket rear end mountain bike.
Works great, replaced old derailleur on 7 sprocket rear end mountain bike. Front gear is 3 sprockets. 21 gears total, using grip shifts for front and rear. After some fitment of the cable, and aligning the screws, its' now able to get in the high and low gears repeatably. The old derailleur just broke one day, internally the spring gave out and it wrapped the chain around the rear sprockets. This new derailleur changes gears better than the old one. This unit also has the hanger, which my bike needed. My mountain bike is over 20 years old, and this breathed new life in it.

I recommend.
Bought 2 within 3 months. Outfitted 2 bikes. Excellent SIS Shimano shifting. Its a long cage for MTB nad Hybrid bike setups. Wont work on a Road Bike with a compact cassette. so choose wisely and match the "chain wrap" spec of this Derailleur to your current chain and crank setup. It should match or be close to 2-4 of this derailleur's chain wrap which Shimano says is 43. This was very easy to index properly. It also has a B-screw adjustment where most cheaper deraillers don't have this feature. Appears durable and seems lighter than most inexpensive derails. Worked on my 5 speed cassette bike as well as my 6 speed bike. They both shift the same with the same precisionl. No its not Dura Ace by any means. But it is still Shimano quality even at this price point.

Perfect fit!
When I first got this item (which I played only about half price for, thanks to it being returned by a previous customer) I was worried about its fitment. I had to alter the mounting bracket hole so it would fit right, but that was no problem...now my ebike gears change smoothly and I'm extremely satisfied with this part!

BEWARE! Wrong Part Pictured when Ordering
Look out for this! See the picture I attached, this is what will arrive, not the one shown when ordering. Picture when purchasing shows direct mount (one with the allen wrench "button"), but what arrives is one that attaches to the axel. So frustrating! I need to get this bike fixed!

Decent, cheap, and reliable
Had to replacement an existing tourney because it wouldn't handle 34T, but this thing will. Not sure why people are having issues with tuning this derailleur, as a weekend warrior, I had no problem dialing it in. It was easy, straight forward to install and tune. By far, not the top of the line, but it gets the job done. If people want a challenging rear derailleur to tune, try the spram eagle series, shimano is delight to work on.

Item not as described. Only get this if you need a hook mount.
This is a hook type mount (c-shape), not direct mount (ring shaped with bolt). Goo gle it if you don't know the difference. The first time I bought this, the product image showed a hook type, but I was as yet uninformed of the difference so bought it anyway. No hassle return, so that was good. I re-visited the listing, and what do you know the picture was updated to a direct mount. I then called Amazon support to verify that if I order it again I would receive the direct mount which is what is in the updated picture. They said I would. Sadly, I did not. It is still a hook mount.Other than the inaccurate description it is good for being a Shimano Tourney derailleur.
