Great Rod
With the reviews on the combo I was a little hesitant to buy, but made the decision and placed the order. The rod can in without any damage and has proven to be a great combo for the price!

Reel exploded into pieces
This was the second time I had used this reel.I have several other types of abu Garcia reels and usually very satisfied.I cast a small crankbait out and the reel literally exploded. Some pieces flew in the water, the spool landed next to my trolling motor. The housing was the only thing left on the rod.I have used cheaper abu reels but spend the extra money to upgrade

Solid rod n reel for the money
Nice rod and the reel is nice for the most part. The only negative is that the reel core is plastic and does not have a hole to feed the line through.

This thing works
The Performance at this price point sets the best value for anything in this price point!! It’s super light and fits really comfortably in the hand, so it will cause no fatigue after a few hours of use. I managed to catch my personal best fish with this rod

Exactly what I wanted.
I've only tried bait casting once many, many years ago. I had nothing but frustration with it. Technology having vastly improved, I thought I would give it another try.I didn't want to spend an absolute fortune on a combo rig, but just wanted a decent rod and reel to get started.Abu Garcia is a very well known name among anglers and they have a great reputation.This combo is fairly priced, it showed up in a few days, and I'm excited to spool it up and give it a try. It operates smooth as glass and is pretty solid for such a lower end bait caster. The rod itself is really nice.

Multiple defects out of the box
Not worth the buy while my initial viewpoint thought it was a good deal. Few major issues right out of the box and while using:1. The reel wouldn’t spin while the handle would right out of the box. Had to adjust settings to make it work.2. Placeholder that’s glued to the rod to secure the reel wasn’t glued so the reel can come right off at any moment.3. The reel would lock up when casting causing the line to backlash severely and even had 15 lb. braid snap and lose a couple buzz baits in the process.

Great reel
Took a minute to get tension right I had a lot of problems the first time I used it. Works great now. It was difficult to load real though if that was improved on everything would be perfect.
