This book isn't just beautiful musings and light thoughts to ponder. It's masterfully crafted to speak to the unknowing and questioning hidden in the crevices and cracks in your soul. It reaches into the passionate and tender corners of your being and stirs it all up, leaving you with tears welling up in your eyes from a wise knowing it touches that you forgot was ever there.This is raw, stunningly and vulnerably written, and will elicit the most flummoxing amalgam of thoughts and feelings. These are all the words and thoughts that I've had but couldn't bring to verbal or written form.This is by far and away the best book I've purchased in years. Gina is truly your soul's poet.

I had the pleasure of listening to the lovely Ms. Puorro speak many of her poems live during "Beat Night" at a bookstore and bar near me. Her delivery and the power of her artfully crafted words hooked me and I had to buy her book. Her work radiates a powerful sense of self-understanding, personal journey & growth, femininity, and raw sensuality and sexuality. She has a great poem not included in this work called Jester, which I hope appears in a future work. I hope she continues to write for a long time.

I LOVE this collection of poetry. I love that it's organized by nature. The tone and the way she weaves themes of nature, love, loss, grief, and possibility make this perfect for my personal life but also for the grief rituals I host. The Wild Will Call You Back is a collection of writing divided into four sections based on the four seasons. Many of the poems possess beautiful imagery expressed in haunting, lyrical phrases. I liked that each section began with a poem dedicated to the season followed by a poem about a woman who expresses those same characteristics. In spite of the lyrical writing, I did get slightly annoyed by the long prose passages interspersed between the poems in each section. While parts were enjoyable, sometimes they felt never ending and slightly whiney in their nature. Poems seem to be Gina Puorro’s strong suite, and I wish there were more of them in this slim collection.

I love the way this book is sectioned in seasons, to explore certain parts of the author's life, and how she experienced the world around her at those times in her life. It is a deep, raw, honest account of a personal journey and it brought me to tears more than a few times, but also filled my heart with love. Thank you, Gina, for so eloquently sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings. This book will be dog-eared very quickly!

Beautiful and heartfelt poetry and prose that gets to the core of what it means to be human. I had goosebumps reading every page of this book! I just want to read it over and over again. This book has clearly been written by an author who has sat with herself and with nature for long enough to hear the deep knowings from within.
