Another Manksterpiece!
Greg Mank has been providing books, mostly concerning old horror movies, since IT'S ALIVE! in, I think, about 1981. That book absolutely floored me, and all his books since then have only gotten -- incredibly -- better and better. This one has chapters centered on individual movies and people from the "classic horror" era. Every chapter is chockfull of fascinating information, all presented in clean, highly readable prose by the author. Frankly, as good as every chapter is, the sections covering Acquanetta and Basil Rathbone are worth the purchase price all by themselves.Nearly all the folks involved in the making of those movies are gone now, but, lucky for the readers, Greg Mank interviewed just about every one of them still upright and available during the last five decades or so and he's very generous in sharing what he heard from them. What about negatives? I should say something negative, just a little something. Lemme see....uhhh...ummm...oh, I got it! The book shouldn't have ended. It should have gone on and on and I should still be reading it.Couldn't recommend this one any more highly.

Essential Reading for horror film enthusiasts!
This is a truly wonderful book. Greg Mank and Tom Weaver are the pre-eminent historians of horror film history, and this latest book from Greg is another in a long line of essential volumes, full of heart and packed with original research. This isn’t the endlessly recycled, often grossly inaccurate received wisdom that fills most so-called film history books; this is the real deal. A must read!
