Great education and kid likes it
Bought Sarah Morton's day, tapenums day, and dia de los muertos for my 6yo and gave them all to her on Nov 1. She was attracted to the cover of dia de los muertos but it's the other two that she has asked to read over and over. Great educational material. Highly recommend.

Tapenum's Day: A Wampanoag Indian Boy In Pilgrim Times
There are comparatively few books written about the Indian tribesof the eastern part of the United States. This is a well-written and informative book which details life as it was during the time of the Pilgrims. Pre-K (4 year olds) enjoy looking at the pictures and hearing a paraphrase of the text. As written, it is appropriate for kindergarten and up.

Tapenum's Day
Tapenum is a Wampanoag indian during the 1620's, he was about 11yr old and hoping to be chosen for the Initiation ceremony so important to each child at that time but he easn't chosen, he lived at Namasket and would only move when the frosts came, the white colonists lived nearby. He decided he must train more, run, hunt and anything he needed to try again, he catches a rabbit and squirrel which he gives to his mother and then goes fishing with his friend Nootimus, after fishing he meets a wise old man of the tribe and asks his advice on the ceremonyThis is a nice short book with lots of pictures ideal for teacher's and parents who are trying to tell their children of this timeIsaac Hendrick plays Tapenum in these photo's, he is a Mashpee Wampanoag and he is 11yrs.
