Tree Thinking: An Introduction to Phylogenetic Biology

Being entirely new to genetics and molecular evolution, I had some trouble, at first, with grasping concepts in my evolution program. This book was assigned reading and it was essential to the development of understanding for me. I normally sell my textbooks after completion of programs, but I'm definitely keeping this one. Tree Thinking is easy to read, accessible even to those without any background in molecular science, and is very, very dense without being intimidating. It did a wonderful job explaining Bayesian statistics in a comprehensive way, among other things.

Perhaps the best overview to phylogenetic thinking and the analysis of evolutionary thinking. Baum really helps you thin -about and more importantly understand- what common ancestry is and representations of those relationships. Very clearly written with excellent accompanying graphics. A really fantastic book.

I received it as a new book. BUT the description said it has a Hardcover, But It is not. The only reason that made me not to return it back is because I have an exam, and I needed the book as soon as possible. That is why I spend $10 extra to get it overnight.

Awesome book that is an easy read so far. Isn't dry like other text books and really filled with great evolutionary and tree of life thoughts.
